Excellence, Opportunity and Success
We would like to respectfully acknowledge the Elders past and present of the Wijabul Wiyabal people and other peoples of Bundjalung Nation. We acknowledge that they are the first peoples of this land on which our school stands.
Solid Mob Visit The primary students thoroughly enjoyed a recent visit from Solid Mob. The Solid Mob Team coordinated a series of
excellent activities across the entire school. Students were placed in small mixed year level groups and participated in an amazing race. Activities all centred on healthy choices, presenting information on tobacco, sugar and providing emotional

Principal’s Report
Semester 2 Student Progress Reports
Staff are in the final stages of preparing our semester 2 student progress reports. We are anticipating that these will be
sent home next Friday 13th December. Please keep an eye out for your child’s report on this day and if you don’t receive it
please contact the school. If there are unforeseen circumstances and there is a delay we will communicate this to families.
Inappropriate Language
Over the past few weeks there has been an increase in the use of inappropriate, offensive and insulting language directed
to adults in our school by students. Whilst the vast majority of our students are appreciative and polite to adults they are
being impacted on by a few who continually use inappropriate language. Behaviour such as this reflects badly on our
school and those students who are doing the right thing. Adults in our school have the right to come to work or volunteer
and be spoken to respectfully.
In an effort to address this negative behaviour staff will be issuing 3 reminders to students. If the behaviour continues to
occur a formal caution will be issued. The next breach will result in a short suspension. We would appreciate your help by
talking to your children about this and support us as we attempt to stop this offensive behaviour.
Bike Helmets
Many Lismore Public School students are able to ride their bikes and scooters to school. This is a wonderful option for
students but whilst riding or scooting students need to be safe. There are several students who are currently riding to
school without helmets. This is of concern to staff, both for safety and legal reasons. We are asking for all parents of
students who ride to school to ensure their child wears a helmet. This is a simple way to protect our students and school
from an incident that may have very serious consequences. Helmets can be stored in the bike shed along with bikes,
scooters and skateboards.
Afternoon Muster
A reminder that all students are required to attend afternoon muster and not leave the school grounds until the 3.10 bell
has gone and they have been dismissed. It is important for the safety of our students that this process is followed.
Students should ensure they leave from the Infants COLA with their designated group including bus, technology, bikes and
scooters and after school care. Students waiting to be collected are dismissed last. Students not attending muster are
required to be signed out through the front office. We appreciate the support of all parents and carers in this matter to
ensure all students leave school in the correct manner.
End Of Year Activities
As we come to the end of year students will be participating in a variety of additional activities. We are asking all families to
ensure they keep up to date with what is happening via the newsletter and social media. If you have any queries about
changes to routine please contact the school.
Have a wonderful week!!

Choir News
The junior and senior choirs will be visiting the aged care facility Fromelles Manor in McKenzie St next Monday, 9
th December to perform some vocal items and have a
Christmas singalong with the nursing home residents. The students are always made to feel welcome whenever we sing there. Students will be walking to and from the venue with staff and are expected to be wearing their complete summer uniform. This excursion provides a valuable learning opportunity for the students by allowing them to listen to stories of the lives of the audience members as well as share their musical talent after many hours of rehearsals. The students of both choirs are to be commended
on their enthusiasm, talent and pride to represent Lismore Public School through their singing.
Music News
Andrew Hills will be finishing group music lessons for the year next Monday. Students hiring school instruments must return them during Week 9. For beginner students Andrew will collect them and for band students they will be returned following the Christmas Carol performance. The students have worked hard throughout the year learning woodwind, brass or string instruments. Early next year students from Year 3 onwards are offered the opportunity to participate in group music lessons prior to auditioning to join the school band and Performing Arts Festival Combined Band. Instruments available for hire include: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and trombone. Lessons are available for students to learn guitar or drums if they own their own instrument. Notes with more information will be available at the front office at the start of 2020.
