- 1. I like my school magazinefront cover .It doesntfollow many
conventions if Ilook back and look at it butit is colourful and
looksextremely different from mymusic magazine which usesmore
subtle colours . Mynew magazine is organisedand concise. It uses
aclearer image and looksmuch more like aconventional magazine .Inmy
own opinion I amenticed/ drawn more to themusic magazine as it
seemsto offer more informationand looks like it will featurebetter
content.
2. I feel that I have learnt overthe time. Looking back at
mypreliminary task contentspage ( right) I followedhardly any
magazineconventions. It looks veryunorganised and off-puttingto
anyone who would wantto read it. A main thing I cantell I have
improved on is theoverall layout .Pictures in mymusic magazine
areorganised and aligned.Content information isorganised on right
third, pictures on the two leftthirds. The magazine logo isis also
positioned on the topleft , a common conventionused in music
magazines andthat I something I didnt doin my school magazine.
Ilearnt how to use photoshoprather than illustrator todevelop a
more conventionalmagazine. 3. I didnt create a doublepage for my
collegemagazine but I think if Idid I would see a lot
ofimprovements just likemy other pages . 4. Question 7 Looking back
at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full product? As a whole I feel that I
have learnt how to use magazineconventions effectively and
precisely to recreate a musicmagazine that will sell and attract a
target audience. When creating my college magazine I did not
researchother magazines and you can tell this from the finalproduct
that it was more my own concept of a collegemagazine rather than a
conventional college magazine. Ifeel that by looking back at my
preliminary task you cansee the changes and improvements of
technology , colourscheme , fonts , photos included , layout and
overallpresentation of the magazines. 5. Technology When making my
In my music magazine I knowcollege magazine I that I used a wide
range ofused a small technology . This had a hugehandful
ofprograms. Theseimpact on the professionalincluded Adobe polished
look of myillustrator, magazine. From PhotoshopPowerPoint and to
prezi , I teamed a varietybasic online tools.I of products to
create thishad less time tocreate mymagazine. I had more
time, magazine and around two to three monthsused lessto research
and plan thentechnology.use the technology to create my product. 6.
Front Cover If you look and compare my twofront covers the
technology I usedcreates two different levels ofwork. There are more
techniques I started a few lessons late into thethat helped with
the course and was faced with creating a arrangement and design of
front cover with little to no research . I my music magazine in
wanted to stay in my comfort zone andPhotoshop. I used tools that
use programs and websites that I had a edited fonts to create
backing good idea already how to use and I was shadows, inner
shadows and not ready for something new and to a range or colours
.I had learn. This did effect the outcome of my more time to get my
head magazine as I was limited to the few around learning how to
use programs with my previous knowledgephotoshop and then using
from, other subjects.my knowledge in my new 7. Contents Page I can
see a huge improvement in thelevel of my work between the twopages.
It reflects that time and researchhelp when recreating a magazine.
I used Photoshop to create my music magazine. I spent an average
amount on time on itFor my contents page I also used and pictures
taken for the page illustrator as well but I had less where taken
and used first time.experience on using and uploading It was hard
at first using thephotos to the program and editing technology and
getting used to it within the program .I found it harder to and at
first my drafts were very create a contents page compared to the
bad .However after learning the ways of Photoshop ,technology front
cover as I had no real skills using helped me create a contents and
adding text and aligning the text . I page I wanted and I feel
quitejust made assumptions on how to lay it proud of my final
draft.out .Looking back I couldnt of really made any more
improvements to it at the time . 8. Making it lookprofessional ..
9. Fonts In my college In my music magazine I thinkmagazine I used
onlythat I have used a larger, morevery basic fonts anddiverse
range of fonts. Ieffects . The writing isincluded fonts not only
fromvery clear and IPhotoshop but from sites likerestricted my use
ofpixlr.com. Using a range offonts to the fontsfonts help me target
my targetoffered in Adobeaudience who were around theIllustrator
-(Nativesame age as the students I wasNormal andtrying to target in
my collegePosterBodoni It BTmagazine . However I feel Ihave used my
fonts moreItalic).Looking backpositively and correctly in mythe
fonts are verymusic magazine as they arechildlike for the age not
as childlike but much moregroup I intended it toin your face but
work well withbe for .the indie theme of mymagazine. 10.
PhotographyFor my music magazine I used arange of photos from
differentPhotos taken for my college angles and in
differentmagazines were very basic environments. I focused more
onand photo edits were basic. the mise en scene in the shootsPhotos
were aligned as I had learnt more aboutanywhere on my pages .
Notlighting, makeup , props etc. Imuch planning was put intoedited
using a range of differentthe picture taken and it wassites rather
than just programmesapparent in the magazine. like paint and
PowerPoint. Photosfit better on contents page, frontcover and
double page. 11. Layout My collegeIn my music magazine Imagazine
hadfocused a lot on the layout. Ino to littleorganised my content
page intoorganisation .three neat columns to makeThe writing
oninformation easier to access .Ithe contentsfocused a lot on
tracking andwas unaligned leading as without it my magazineand I
did not would look unprofessional .take into Pictures were
positioned in lineaccount with text and double page imagetracking
andtakes up precisely half the page .leading off Double page is
organised into twotext. columns and pull out quotes arealso used in
the layout. 12. Colour Scheme My collegeIndiecisive followed a
strictmagazine didnt colour scheme. It neededreally follow a
colourto follow indie musicscheme . The frontconventions which
arecover was colourful urban colours like deep redand the
contentsand black .Colour schemespage was just bluelook smart and
ensureand white showingno continuity . I had continuity in brand.
Usingmore leeway in thecolours that insure thecolours I used
andreader is investing in ahad less time toreliable magazine
.research and createa colour scheme. 13. Other ways in which I have
improved!GO ME I created a website link for my music magazine
oneach page as I have learnt from my preliminarytask that it offers
readers a way of interacting andgratifying them in additional ways
than by justreading the magazine. I have also learnt that using the
correct grammarlanguage that is associated with the
stereotypicalindie teen that I am targeting to is helpful andwas
easy for me to do as I have a good insightinto the language I
needed to include.
