6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Apple Mac Computer

The Mac computer is a very powerful machine with lots of useful applications, such as Quark Xpress and Photoshop. It runs quickly and allowed me to be very creative when making my magazine. It took some getting used to, since I had never used Macs before, but I found it was easy to use and ideal for both new users and more experienced users.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Quark XPress

Quark is an app on the Mac that allows you to create posters, leaflets and specifically magazines. It was difficult to use at first, and there were some issues with simple tasks such as selecting the right tool for certain items. With practice it became manageable though, and despite this, it was great for making my magazine look realistic and not too dissimilar to an actual magazine.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The camera I used was a Canon EOS 600D, and I had two of them. One was set for single photo use, which was ideal for taking high quality and detailed photographs. This camera was best for taking the pictures for my front cover and contents page, as I took single photos of the models posing. The other was great for taking a constant stream of photos over time, such was the setting on the camera. This allowed me to capture the moment and catch the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the photoshoot, which was what I wanted for my contents page.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Adobe Photoshop CS6

Photoshop is a useful program that allowed me to edit my photos. It is very in-depth and had a variety of tools to use, such as a paintbrush tool, a blur tool and many different kinds of lighting effects for example. I found it overwhelming initially, however it was quite simple to pick up, since I only used it to edit photographs. The program is very good and made my pictures look professional and of high quality, which is important in a magazine.

6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Microsoft Office PowerPoint

PowerPoint is a program that allows you to create your own presentations. I used this a lot to present my construction process. It is very simple and versatile, as I can even create powerpoints about powerpoints…!

Slideshare

Slideshare is a website that meant I could quickly and easily upload my powerpoints to the blog. It would have been much more difficult without it.
