construction

TECHNOLIGIES

• Throughout the course I have used a wide range of technologies that have helped me and my group construct our product. Some are allot easier and simple to use than others but after practice none of these technologies are impossible to use.

Adobe Photoshop

• This is one of the main software's we used as we had to construct our print add on this. Photoshop is a brilliant software to use as you can crop, edit, and change colour/lighting along with many other things for our print add we had to use one main image then add other images on top including channel four writing this was very time consuming as we had to crop witch letter we needed and had to put in on top of the main layer letter by letter. The cut out tool was very useful as it allowed us to cut around the person for our first idea, it was tricky at first but after practice it became allot easier to do for our second and final idea we had to use the square cut out tool witch was allot easier due to the practice of the first picture. This software was really good for our image as it allowed us to use the paint brush opacity tool we had to zoom in and use different shades to see what looked best the opacity allowed us to colour them in and then go a lighter shade so we could still see the image underneath this helped the moth look allot more grungy and emphasised the tooth decay. We also had to get a channel four logo and load it onto a transparent background cutting carefully around the edges allowing us to place onto the main layer, overall this software is a really good one to use as it has allowed us to make our print add look professional and allowed us to add it to the radio add and documentary to make a good package.

Adobe Premiere CS6 • Adobe premiere is the main software we used as it is what we used to edit the

production of the five minute documentary and our radio trailer me and my group shared this task very well by all taking it in turns to do this and working on it all together, one of the good things about premiere is that you can control sound levels by hiring the little line on the editing strip so you could make sure the song that covered our opening titles was the same sound level as the next interview coming up straight after. the brackets on the left hand side allowed you to get the parts you wanted by opening and closing the brackets so you could then delete or drag out. this was a very useful tool to use because it allowed us to cut out bits of the song lollypop by mika to put into the music bed as we only wanted the happy cheerful parts. to create text you have to press the ctrl button and the T this allows you to bring out text and make it bubbly fun scary etc, the media browse box on the left allowed me to grab different bits of footage from the folder whenever I needed it so I thought this software was easy to use and was good to organise the folders. Overall using this software has been great as it has helped me and my group get a professional look on our products.

Radio studio

• The radio studio has been very useful to me as this is were we recorded Helen for our voice over although we had to ask her to record it a few times over so we could get the right one. It is brilliant as the microphone and head sets have allowed our radio trailer and documentary to sound very professional.

Digital stills cameras

• We used these cameras to take photographs of the editing and recording process for example whilst Susan and Andréa record and ask the questions then I would take the photographs of them doing so of proof for us to upload them to our blogs. These cameras are very easy to use as they are simple and hold a good amount of memory

DV camera, tripod and microphones

• This equipment was the main equipment me and my group used as we used these at every interview we had to ask the person we were interviewing to wear the microphone in order for the interview to block out other sounds and make that person sound load and clear the tripod held the camera and allowed all shots, zooms and other photographs to be still straight and not wonky it also prevented and shaky camera work. using this equipment it helped our work look allot more professional.
