In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media

products?

Page 3: Evaluation presentation

This enabled readers to associate the magazine with other existing music magazines, to help them identify what type of magazine it is. This was proved in my evaluation questionnaire when 100% of the people asked were able to identify my magazine as a music magazine.

These features proved to be successful, as 70% of the people who completed my evaluation questionnaire were able to identify my magazine as a Dubstep magazine.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Page 7: Evaluation presentation

This was proved by my evaluation questionnaire, as 100% of the people asked thought that the article sounded like a proper piece of journalism that they would expect to find in a magazine about Dubstep.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Page 9: Evaluation presentation

Who would be the audience for your product?

I predicted that my demographic would be teenagers and young adults of all genders, nationalities and social classes, who ultimately take an interest in Dubstep music. I composed a questionnaire to see if my predicted demographic was correct, and was proved right. The questionnaire showed that my target audience was 16-25 year olds, regardless of nationality, gender and social class. This was a good audience to target, with my target audience being quite a large group of people, due to there being no competition in the market. Therefore my magazine would have potential to sell.

How did you attract/address your audience?

The main article attracts the reader through the language used. The frequent use of slang and non-standard grammar appeals to the young demographic, as that is how young people speak. Furthermore, the article portrays the artist as being just a ‘normal’ person underneath the fame, which may appeal to target audience as it gives them ambitions that they could possibly follow in their footsteps.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Page 14: Evaluation presentation
Page 15: Evaluation presentation

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the

full product?

Looking back at my preliminary task and comparing it to my final outcome, I feel that the quality of my final magazine is a massive improvement of that of my preliminary task magazine, as I researched and gained more knowledge of magazine layout and appearance, and applied it to my final outcome. This vast improvement is visible in the quality of the layout, text and the step up of the quality of my imagery used in my magazine.

Page 16: Evaluation presentation

In my opinion, the magazine cover I created for the preliminary task does not meet the standards of a genuine magazine cover, however my evaluation questionnaire shows that 100% of the people asked feel that the standard of my final magazine cover matches up to that of a genuine magazine.

ConclusionIn conclusion, my final magazine has been successful, as all aspects of the magazine portray the Dubstep genre of music effectively, and appear like a genuine magazine. The results of my evaluation questionnaire prove this, as everyone asked agreed that the magazine name and imagery were suitable, the content was interesting and the pages fitted together well, and was, in general, appealing to them.
