Location
Bemowo is a district of Warsaw located in the western part of the city.
Its territory covers the so-called western belt of the former district of Wola.
The name of the district derives from the surname of General Józef Bem.
History of BemowoBemowo was attached to Warsaw in
1951.The oldest residential estate in the
Bemowo was on Boernerowo, which in 1934 built tram lines.
In 1951, the Military Technical Academy opened.

Józef Zachariasz BemHe was born on 14th March, 1794.
He was a Polish general, an Ottoman Pasha and a national hero of Poland and Hungary, and a figure intertwined with other European nationalisms.
He died on 10th December, 1850.
