In 2009 Włochy had surface of 28,63 km

There lived 39 960 people. Per 1 km there lived 1386 people. It has been an independent district in Warsaw from year 2002. It’s located in the south-west part of the city. Its mayor is Michał Wąsowicz. Its name was from the surname of noble family Włochy, from witch country, in XVI century to be called Włochy.

Sights of Włochy

• In Włochy there are many interesting places. There are the old buildings, tunnel, viaduct, a house of culture and railway station. Each of these places has its own history.

• In palace in which is located libary lived Koelichen’s. Włochy had belonged to them before it became a district of Warsaw. Before the war there were brick factory and mill.

It was created in a similar time as the local parish, it is in 1937. The cementery has a shape similar to a trapezoid.

The initiator of the cementery was the local priest Julian Chrościcki.

• 16 September 1944, played out one of the most tragic events in the history of Włochy, when it was still out of Warsaw

• All man aged 16 to 60 years were summoned to appear in Koelichen’s Park.

• Lucky ones who managed to return to their homes to struggle with physical ailments and terrible memories, often for friends who have shared their fate, were not so lucky as they.

• To this day every year marks the anniversary of the deportion people living in Włochy. A few days beforethe official ceremonies held around the cross-country course Ponds Capricorn, which commemorates the events of several decades.

Primary school nr 94 patronated by the first marshal of Poland Joseph Piłsudski

The first school in Włochy was a one-class public school founded in 1915.

There is 708 students in this school.Head of school nr 1 was Antoni Nowakowski.In 1935 the Board of Education asked the

authorities to give the school’s name of Polish Marshal Joseph Piłsudski.

During the 1941-1942 school was occupated by the army.

Dauther of Edward Raksa. She’s born in Lida on Belarus in 1941. She had spent in the family house only the first two years of her life, because in 1943 her parents decided to leave (escape) to the Poland. After World War II Mrs. and Mr. Raksa together with their dauther lived in Wroclaw, the Foresters. Pola’s career began in the late 50th, when her face appeared on the cover of the magazine „Around the World” . Beauty young girl drew the attention of Maria Kaniewska, director completing the cast for the film „ Satan in seventh class” . At that time, Pola was a student of Polish Studies at the University of Wroclaw. She’s living in Old Wlochy now.
