Dear Friends,
The Pleasure of Sharing
“The miracle is this: the more we share the more we have” – Leonard Nimoy
As we are fast approaching the Christmas period, we begin by sharing a drink with Accra Breweries Limited as they celebrate 80 years of operations in Ghana. Happy Birthday and cheers!
Having a drink with friends is a pleasurable experience, but we must also eat and what is better than a good meal shared with friends. We introduce you to Chef Gaby of the Lounge at Chase restaurant and discover his passions which are cooking, family and friends – the building blocks of life. What could be better?
My grandfather once told me that to understand the world in which you live you must “go and visit your country” and more importantly then share the experiences that you have had.
To share is a pleasure. Everyday you can discover new places to eat, drink, visit or even shop. It is said that it is better to give than receive, and that gifts and the giving of them maintain friendships, so you can indulge yourselves and make others happy at the same time. Pay a visit to the shops we point out to you in your favourite magazine.
We can’t speak about sharing without a nod to our friends in the arts. We say a big “thumps up” to Lilly, who managed to bring together the cream of Ghanaian art at a splendid exhibition held at the CFAO showroom. It was a fun evening, admiring some vintage art in the midst of some beautiful cars and charming ladies and in this case sharing was a real pleasure.
This month it has been a pleasure to be at your service.
....Enjoy

ccra Brewery Limited (ABL) was originally Overseas Breweries
Limited, incorporated on 30th June 1931, for the purpose of establishing a brewing industry in the then Gold Coast.
The 1930’s were a time of great world recession, however the company was built in record time and having survived the recession proved its resilience through the second world war and Ghana's days of struggle.
So hard were the times in reference, that the then Governor of the Gold Coast, Sir Thomas Shenton Thomas in his speech commissioning the project declared
“The past years have been the worst we have ever known and a man might shrink in venturing
out in such a storm, but what do we see here? Begun in the slump, continued in the slump and completed in the slump, a building which is to create a new industry in this country. Is not that an example of courage and example of faith?”
The company was the first non-traditional manufacturing industry in the Gold Coast and the first brewing industry in the whole of West Africa.
In 1997, SABMiller Plc (then South African Breweries Ltd) the second largest brewing entity in the world, acquired controlling shares in the company. ABL is engaged in the manufacture and distribution of beer, sparkling soft drinks and non-alcoholic malt beverages.

Corporate Agenda
“Creating economic opportunities for small businesses near our
breweries not only helps the local community but helps our business too.”
1. Discouraging Irresponsible Drinking
Accra Brewery is working with such stakeholders as employees, other industry players and the Ministry of Health to address irresponsible drinking and reduce alcohol-related harm in Ghana.
2. Benefiting Communities We Serve
ABL is helping develop small and medium sized enterprises in our localities with an aim to boost the local economy, improve health care and education levels, and bring more work to the area.
3. Water as a Priority
Brewing beer uses lots of water, not only in the manufacturing process but also in growing the crops that it relies on.Managing water efficiently is one of the key ways we can protect local environments and the communities around our plants.
4. Reducing our Energy and Carbon Footprint
ABL uses energy efficiently, investing in renewable energy sources and generating our own energy are key ways we can help to protect the environment. This will not only save money and resources, it will also reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and hence our carbon footprint.
Mr David Lamptey, Mr Greg Metcalf, Mr Akature Ania, Mr Tony Medway, Mr Urvesh Desai, Ms Adjoba Kyiamah &
Mr Philip Norley of ABL's Management Team

5. Transparency and Ethics in our Business Dealings
Transparency underpins our approach to sustainable development and our business activity more widely. Our suppliers and customers want to know that our beers and soft drinks are of good quality and are safe to drink.
6. Health
Health is an issue of particular relevance to our business and our particular focus is on HIV/Aids because SABMiller has an extensive presence in countries affected by the pandemic. The potential consequences of poor health for our business are high and that is why we manage the issue as a priority and invest in healthcare provision for our employees and our local communities.
7. Encouraging Enterprise Development
Creating economic opportunities for small businesses near our breweries not only helps the local community but helps our business too. We benefit from not having to pay import duties and having access to more direct and secure supply chains, improved quality of products and new innovations.
8. Respecting Human Rights
At ABL, we have a duty to promote the values of the international community, in particular the United Nations Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR).
9. Working Towards Zero Waste Operations
In managing waste generated by our businesses, we follow the principles of the waste hierarchy to reduce, reuse and recycle our waste in an efficient and, ultimately, value creating way. This requires us to use our resources efficiently and limit the disposal of waste to landfill.
10. Packaging – Packaging and Recycling
Over 66% of our waste consists of organic by-products from the brewing process including spent grains, waste yeast and trub (a residual sludge from the process). Minimizing the waste we produce and finding alternative uses for it are the key ways we can protect local environments.

'His use of a low range of colours, sharp contrast of light and dark, raw craftsmanship and a hint of modern underpinnings create an intrinsic tension between purity and sophistication. Art they say is the heartbeat of the soul. It is intricately woven into all aspects of our lives.
Directly or remotely, we encounter art on a daily basis. However, the essence of art and its impact, is made possible through the various forms of expression by artists. It is in this light that Tiga African Art assembled four artists who have more than paid their dues in the professional art world in this august show dubbed REMINISCENCE.
The exhibition was sponsored by CFAO motors, Dalex Finance,Enjoy and was curated by Lily Sefa-Boakye, Director, Tiga African Art.

Your sights are set high in November, dear Aries, but several circumstances help to bring you back down to earth. You can successfully combine practical matters and more fanciful ones this month. With focus, you can make enormous progress in your work. You are likely to deal with romantic illusions on the 6-7. Career and financial matters are strong and settled by the 15-16, after a scurry of activity and worries on the 10th. The last week of the month brings powerful intuition for work, the chance to turn losses into gains, and opportunities to deal with past problems.
The 10th brings heightened emotions and personal revelations, generally relationship-related, with the Full Moon in your sign, dear Taurus. At around the same time, romance begins to heat up. Some of you are pursuing it more assertively, and others are experiencing ups and downs. Avoid new relationships that seem to be inviting trouble. The 15-16 is strong for romance and creativity. Shared finances can become tricky to handle in the last week of the month and into December, so do what you can to straighten out debt, as well as ownership and joint money matters, before then.
Famous Scorpio: Anne HathawayBORN: NOVEMBER 12, 1982 - BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, USA
Anne's chart contains three aspects in Scorpio, making her an intensely private person, so going through a very public breakup in 2008 from her alleged biker boyfriend must have been excruciating. Luckily, Anne is a talented actress, and she recovered by receiving kudos for her amazing role in Rachel Getting Married later that year. And while she's probably willing to give love another try, her probing Scorpio influences may always lead her to be a bit skeptical of romance.
Famous Scorpio: Leonardo DiCaprioBORN: NOVEMBER 11, 1974 - HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA, USA
Leo's come a long way since his Growing Pains days! Although he is outspoken about his favorite causes, including environmental and global warming issues. His personal life he epitomizes the phrase "still waters run deep," which is a classic Scorpio trait. Often linked with beautiful models as companions, Leo is still searching for "the one," and with his Venus in demanding and possessive Scorpio, she'll have to be quite a woman!
Gemini22/5-21/06
Good energy for relationships and negotiations is with you for most of November, dear Gemini. Your attitude towards your close ties is transforming in significant ways. Single Geminis might meet an especially charming and communicative love interest. Work and professional matters are well starred this month. Your goals are clearer and motivation is easy to find. From the 11th, you could feel a strong desire to renovate your home, but be careful that you don't take on more projects than you can reasonably handle. From the 24th, complications can arise that have you rethinking what you've started.

Libra24/9-23/10
Capricorn22/12-20/01
Cancer22/6-23/07
Work relationships improve in November, dear Cancer, but avoid overloading your plate with responsibilities, as they are likely to come back to haunt you in the last week of the month when things can get very hectic. Mix-ups and other such challenges are likely then. Any "crisis" occurring in your work at this time is simply clearing the way towards better work conditions. Carefully watch your spending and financial dealings around the 6-8th. The temptation to borrow from the future, combined with unrealistic expectations, can lead you down the wrong road. A relationship strengthens on the 27th.
Your charm is considerable this month, dear Leo. However, a simple flirtation could be misinterpreted as more than it is, so watch that you don't land yourself into unnecessarily complicated situations. You could change your mind, or cool off, in the last week of November. The same may be true of taking on new creative projects - you can start them feeling gung-ho, and then lose interest later. Ups and downs come from the need to frequently discern between fact and fancy. Finding a middle ground is the key.
November is likely to begin with a certain level of ambiguity or uncertainty surrounding work and love matters, dear Virgo. Keep a low profile and avoid jumping to conclusions until after the 11th, when energy levels increase and indecisiveness no longer plagues you. As confident and energetic as you feel, however, avoid taking on too many new projects, as you're likely to feel their weight in the last week of the month. Moderation and focus are keys to success now. The 27th is excellent for finding love in unexpected places.
You're so busy this month that it's easy to get distracted and miss important information, dear Libra. Working your charm is effortless now, however, but do watch for confusion in love and friendship on the 6-7. After this, you're much better off with more clarity in these areas of life. Mechanical break-downs, misinformation, dealing with red tape, and other such annoyances, are likely in the last week of November. Concentrate on getting your work done well the first time so you won't have to redo things later.
Financial matters seem very promising this month, dear Scorpio, but do be careful that you don't overdo spending or purchase large ticket items that you are likely to regret later in November. Ambiguity surrounding career matters on the 6-7 clears up on the 15-16. Romantic proclamations or relationship challenges are likely on the 10th. Trust issues are in play. Trying to separate fact from fiction in your love life could put you on an emotional rollercoaster. Personal impact is strong this month, especially from the 11th forward.
Personal popularity soars this month, dear Sagittarius. Your independent spirit pushes up and out, and you enjoy plenty of scope for doing your own thing. Others take special interest in you. Enhancing your appearance in some manner serves to increase your confidence even further. Career and finances are especially strong, particularly on the 15-16 and 23-27. Even so, be careful that you don't let runaway optimism lead you to take on more projects than you can handle, as you'll likely feel the pressure in the last week of the month.
Your private life is especially animated this month, dear Capricorn. You're not as willing to share your feelings with the world in November, and personal plans are in an early stage of development. You're in a period of reflection and preparation, so take things as slowly as you can. Sacrifices may need to be made when it comes to your relationships - you are required to be sympathetic and helpful now. The last few days of the month, however, bring love matters up front and center. Appreciation for your efforts is forthcoming now.
While your career initiatives remain on the front burner in November, dear Aquarius, pressure to perform is reduced, and your social life begins to take more priority. You're in high demand with friends, and group activities can keep you pleasantly busy this month. Even so, exercise moderation when it comes to answering those demands, as the last week of November can be especially hectic and you may regret having scheduled too many activities. A partner's behavior can be baffling around the 6-7. Financial matters become clearer but more pressing.
You're feeling especially optimistic about your work this month, dear Pisces, and you're being received in a wonderfully charming light. It's easy to rally up support now. As long as you avoid the trap of taking on too many responsibilities, you'll be fine later in the month when complications can arise and things become extremely busy. Don't spread yourself out too thin. Problems that have been brewing in your close relationships can become pressing from the 11th forward. Conversations are helpful around the 15-16, but backtracking is likely from the 24th forward.

ime management is really a misnomer, because we all have the same amount of time, although some accomplish several
times as much as others. Personal management is perhaps a better term to describe the act.
Personal management is the essence of organizing your priorities to accomplish goals and objectives. Managing yourself rather than managing time, focusing on preserving and enhancing relationships, accountability, and accomplishing the desired results (being effective).
The following matrix demonstrates characteristics of activities, classifying them as urgent or not urgent, important or not important, Stephen R. Covey, refers to these as The Time Management Quadrants.

happiness in our lives: where we focus our attention.”

Q1 cannot be ignored, but should eventually shrink with attention to Q2. The Q2 Management is a M.A.P. (Maximize, Actualize, Prioritize) to highly effective behaviour and habits. An additional skill, which will be useful, is delegation. Effectively delegating enables you to devote your energies to high-level activities in addition to enhancing personal growth for individuals and organizations.
The essence of personal management is to set priorities and then organize and execute around them. Setting priorities requires thinking carefully and clearly about values, about ultimate concerns. These can then be translated into long-term and short-term goals and plans and translated once more into schedules or time slots.
During the initial process of determining your priorities, you can draw a t-square with roles on the left and goals on the right. We fulfill multiple roles such spouse, parent, employer and within every role there is a different function or expected destination- the goal.
The beauty of life is that we choose. We choose our roles and goals, choice is possibly the most defining human element.
As Gary Anderson says, “only one thing has to change for us to know happiness in our lives: where we focus our attention.”. Steve Jobs said it better, “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”

At the press briefing prior to the launch, Mr. Marc Benaiche producer of the Black Odyssey Exhibition said the exhibition was designed to honour the epic history and celebrate the achievements of our musical legends. This well attended launch saw the Honorable Member of Parliament, Fritz Baffour take the stage to give a spectacular musical rendition.
