Parallelism

So….what is parallelism again?

Parallelism, also known as parallel structure, is similarity of structure in a pair or series of related words, phrases, or clauses.

Example of a sentence that is NOT parallel: I like to swim, to read, and eating ice cream.

The fix: I like to swim, to read, and to eat ice cream.

Famous examples of parallelism

"When you are right, you cannot be too radical; when you are wrong, you cannot be too conservative.“ – MLK Jr.

"I don’t want to live on in my work. I want to live on in my apartment.“ – Woody Allen

“Give me liberty, or give me death.” – Patrick Henry
