Murrundindi, a Wurundjeri elder, is spending time in the
classrooms educating students about
indigenous culture and language
A VIEW TO THE FUTURE
Kym’s comment
Dear families & friends Murrindindi visits Gembrook Murrundindi, a Wurundjeri elder, has been in classrooms this week educating students about indigenous culture and lan-guage. He will be back again next week. The students have responded warmly to his visits and have been quick to pick up vocabulary. I have heard that many students have talked about his stories at home. We thank Murrindindi for visiting Gembrook and for his presentation at assembly last week. Thank you to the parents who were able to join Murrindindi and myself for a cuppa after assembly.
3 Way conferences – next week Next week there will be an opportunity to discuss your child’s learning and progress, with your child and their teacher through the 3 Way Conferences. All parents are encouraged to make a booking online following the steps in the note that was sent home last week. If you experience difficulties making the booking online, please contact the school office. STOMP ‘STOMP was awesome fun’ according to Cooper Griffiths from grade ¾ B. He was not alone in his reaction to STOMP, our term 3 dance program. Each grade will have weekly sessions. The performance is scheduled for Monday 31 August at 6:15pm at the Emerald Performing Arts Centre. Our regular school performances promote confidence and provide stu-dents with a rich and diverse Performing Arts program. Tick-ets for this fantastic performance will be available from the
school office shortly. There are a limited number so please book early. Parent Opinion Survey Each year a random group of school families are asked to com-plete the annual Parent Opinion Survey that is conducted by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Develop-ment. The survey will be sent home this week. These surveys are helpful to both DEECD and our school as they provide im-portant feedback. In order to maintain complete confidentiali-ty for parents, the surveys will be collected by the school but not opened. The sealed envelopes will be sent to the company responsible for collating the information. We receive the report later in the year and our School Council uses this information to inform our discussion and planning. In previous years the survey information has assisted in discus-sions in regard to student reports, extra curricula activities, and transition and student wellbeing. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you receive a survey and have any questions you would like to discuss. Great Community Car Raffle Thank you to the many families who have sold raffle books. This is a great fundraiser for the school. The school receives all money from the tickets sold. If you would like more tickets please contact the school office. Tickets, sold and unsold, are due back at school this Friday, 24 July. John, School Chaplain John is in our school on Mondays and Wednesdays. He is avail-able to see individual students and will be working with small groups of students to further develop social and team working skills. Please contact the school office for a permission form. John will contact all parents before he sees children. Learning Centre Term 3 Newsletters and homework grids are now on the school website. Gembrook Market BBQ The Gembrook Market BBQ is on this Sunday and helpers are urgently needed for an hour or two. The school runs the BBQ four times a year which is an important fundraiser. If you are able to help on Sunday, please contact the school office for your preferred time slot. Many thanks! Enjoy your week

Do you have a calm and gentle dog? Would you and your dog be interested in spending time in a school classroom? Please contact the school office.
Gembrook Primary School Canteen Survey At present Gembrook Primary School provides students with the opportunity to purchase a canteen lunch order once a week on Fridays. A local café in Gembrook provides this service. Gembrook Primary School is a health promoting school and offers food that is accredited through this process. Gembrook Primary School is unable to operate a canteen on the school premises. At times, the PFA team offers special lunches, such as, soup or pasta days. Please complete this brief survey and return it to the school office. Thank you Kym Peterson Principal
