The Purple and Gold trailed by just one point with 8:25 left in the game, however, the Golden Knights would close on a 19-4 run to finish the game. WELCOME BACK ALEX Elmira’s top returning offensive option from 2013-14, Alex Balara ’15, made her season-debut against Clarkson on December 6th. Balara led the Soaring Eagles with a career-high 24 points and tied a career-high with five assists. She now has six games in her career with five steals. TWO PLAYERS WITH 20-PLUS Adding to Balara’s 24 points against Clarkson was Danielle Cleary ’18 who also scored the most points of her career with 21 points. This is the first time the Purple and Gold have had two players turn in 20- plus point performances since former standouts Jessica Zoltowski ’14 and Maria Thannhauser ’14 both poured in 22 points against St. John Fisher College on December 7th, 2012. DOUBLE-DIGIT STREAK Danielle Cleary ’18 extended her double-digit streak to five games against Clarkson after dropping 21 a season-high points. She now av- erages a team-leading 14.6 points a game and ranks fifth in the Empire 8 Conference. LOYA IN REBOUNDING Meghan Loya ’16 leads the Purple and Gold in rebounding with 10.4 rebounds per game. She ranks third in the Empire 8 Conference and 35th in the nation in boards per game. Karli Pochkar ’16 was only one rebound shy of her first double-double of her career against Hilbert College on November 25th as she recorded 15 points and nine rebounds. In the very next game against Clarkson, Poch-kar scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to mark down her first double-double of her career.
making the mOst Out Of OPPOrtunitiesAgainst Clarkson the Soaring Eagles scored 22 points off turnovers. This is the most points the EC women have scored off turnovers since dropping the same amount on January 31st, 2014 in the 73-60 win over Houghton College.
shOOting WeLLElmira has been shooting well this season, making 40.3 percent of their field goals. The EC women rank third in the Empire 8 Conference in field goal percentage, just 3.1 percent away from conference leader Ste-vens Institute of Technology. The Purple and Gold have improved upon their shooting from last season as the Soaring Eagle’s finished the year making 38.3 percent of their shots.

Danielle Cleary ’18 has gone 10-35 from beyond the arc this season. She not only leads the team in three-point field goal percentage, but she also ranks fifth inside the Empire 8 Conference.

Kelsey Geisler ’15 leads the Purple and Gold in assists per game with 3.8. This ranks her tied for third in the Empire 8 Conference, just 0.5 assists per game behind conference leader Veronica Peck ’16 of Nazareth College. Also in the top-10 in assists in the conference is Danielle Cleary ’18 who finds herself siting eighth in the conference with 3.0 assists per contests.

Meghan Loya ’16 leads the Purple and Gold in blocks per game with 1.0. She also sits fourth in the Empire 8 Conference, just 0.3 away from second and 1.3 blocks per contest away from conference leader Maisie Pipher ’16 of Houghton College.
anOther first-time matchuPFor the first time in over 13 years Elmira will compete against SUNY Pots-dam. This is the fourth time this season that EC has gone up against a team they had not previously seen during that time, the Purple and Gold have gone 2-1 in those games.
scOuting POtsDamThe Bears of Potsdam enter the weekend with a 1-6 overall record and a 0-2 mark inside the State University of New York Athletic Conference. The Bears have lost four straight games, most recently a 77-33 loss against St. Lawrence University. Bailey Weigel ’15 leads the Bears, averaging a double-double with 12.3 points a game, and 10.0 rebounds a game. Carli Reynolds ’15 also averages double-digit scoring with 11.6 points a game while Colleen McNamara ’15 has set up the offense, leading the team in assists with 3.1.
