Originated in the early 1960s with American Cable Systems, Inc. in Tupelo, Mississippi

Expansion of company began in the late 1960s through the 1970• Ralph J. Roberts moved the company to the Philadelphia region• Made company a franchise in Abington, Cheltenham, and Upper Darby, PA• Purchased other local cable companies

1969- Changed company name from “American Cable Systems” to “Comcast Corporations”• “Communication” + “Broadcast” = Comcast

Since its origins, Comcast Corporation serves the all around the United States and the United Kingdom

Currently the 4th largest cable company in the United States
