Parish, commit ourselves through God’s guidance to model a Christian community

rooted in the Eucharist through Word,

Worship and Stewardship.

WEEKLY READINGS MAY 12, 2019

4TH SUNDAY OF EASTER

FIRST READING Acts of the Apostles 13:14, 43–52

Paul and Barnabas traveled to Antioch where they

entered the synagogue to teach. Some Jews

became their followers while others expelled

them from the town. “So they shook dust from

their feet” and went on to Iconium.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 100:1–2, 3, 5

We are his people, the sheep of his flock.

SECOND READING Revelation 7:9, 14b–17

The author of Revelation had a vision of a large

crowd of people from every nation and race,

dressed in white robes and holding palm branches,

standing before the Lamb.

GOSPEL John 10:27–30

“My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they

follow me. I give them eternal life….No one can

take them out of my hand. My Father…is greater

than all….The Father and I are one.”

HUMAN NEEDS COMMITTEE

MAY: Right to Life

Prayer for the Helpless Unborn

Heavenly Father, in Your love for us, protect against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life.

Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood.

Help them to see that the child they carry is made in Your image - as well as theirs - made for eternal life.

Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed care that a mother can give.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.

**ALL FOOD DONATIONS WILL GO TO COPE FOR FLOOD

VICTIMS IN THE COMING WEEKS. We ask that every family bring just one item with them to church each week. Our hope is that it

will become a habit. We serve our Lord by serving His children.

This week’s needs are: Non-perishable food items (mostly syrup, pancake mix, jelly, Jell-O,

salad dressings, ketchup and pudding), toilet paper, laundry detergent,

paper towels (individual rolls), tooth paste, tooth brushes, tissues, shampoo, feminine products and diapers.

Beyond the Flood: Answering the Prayers of our Community

This week we continued our flood relief efforts in sending building materials and clean-up supplies to flood affected residents of Valley, Waterloo, Fremont, and Pacific Junction. W ith the help of Quality Container, we assisted the community of Kings Lake in Valley by positioning 20 dumpsters to help in the clean-up process. To volunteer or donate visit: http://www.stpatselkhorn.org/waterloo-

valley-flood-relief.html

“Thank you for all of the help you are giving the people of Pacific Junction. For the rest of us, our lives have gone forward but for them, everyday is a struggle. Your efforts are bringing them hope.” ~Sherlie Magaret of Glenwood Iowa

“Your work is the real American standing strong together in the time of need.” ~Disabled Veteran, Valley Resident and Recipient of our help

“Thank you so much. This is a huge help! God Bless you all. We received $360 from FEMA. Thank you and all who have contributed to people like me in this time of need.” ~Steve Fraser, Waterloo
