SKIPTON PRE SCHOOL MOTHER’S DAY LUNCHEON On Thursday the 10 th May, the Skipton Pre School hosted their Annual Mother’s Day Luncheon, held at the Skipton Golf Club. Over 60 women attended from near and far, enjoying a two course meal, champagne and plenty of entertainment. The guest speaker was Dr Zainab Sabri from Ballarat who is a Gynaecologist, Obstetrician, Mother and Wife. Dr Zainab was a wonderful speaker sharing many stories about her motherhood, years of studying to become a Doctor, family life and, trying to find the balance. Dr Zainab also shared her experiences of growing up in Iraq and the hurdles she had to overcome in order to practice medicine in Australia, she generously spent time answering all of the many questions raised by the ladies. Local, Liz Phillips ran our auction with great success, with all items sold above their donated value. Thank you Liz and also thank you to your special assistant for modelling the items!! Our Fundraising goal for the 2018 Mother’s Day Luncheon was $5000. We raised $5,154.54. Well done everyone! We can’t thank our sponsors enough for all of their generosity. These events cannot happen without their assistance. Please accept our gratitude for your wonderful ongoing support. Thank you to the Skipton Golf Club Committee. Each year you provide us with the perfect venue and assistance on the day. Special mention to Barb & Graham Pett, Glenis Keilar and Frank Ellingham, who worked tirelessly throughout the day to make sure the event went smoothly. To the all the Skipton Pre School parents who donated food and their time, you were all amazing. Lunch was exceptional (as usual). I would like to thank the following mothers for their support both on the day of the Luncheon and the planning for the event, leading up to the day: Thanks to Gemma Molloy for organising the food and running the kitchen; Hayley Cowan for managing the tickets and assisting on the day; Helen Purvis for taking care of the social media and the stunning logo this year; Liz Barr for decorating the entire venue; Emily Dalton for sorting out the advertising; and Jane Draffin for taking on the Master of Ceremonies at the last minute. Thank you also to ALL on the other Kinder parents for your help and support throughout the event. This event would not be possible without all of the parents support. Lastly, thank you to all of special guests: our wonderful Mums, Grans, Nannas and many who travelled out to share the day in Skipton, that braved the cold weather to attend our Mother’s Day Luncheon. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces that keep coming back each year to celebrate with us. It’s such a fabulous event to bring people together to celebrate Mothers, Community and Supporting our future—Our Children!! RLX expands portfolio Regional Livestock Exchanges (RLX) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a long-term lease of the Camperdown Saleyards following a public ex-pression of interest process run by the Corangamite Shire Council.
The lease of the saleyard facility represents an inte-gral step in the expansion of the RLX network into Southern and Western Victoria which currently en-compasses a portfolio of facilities stretching from Rockhampton Qld to Ballarat VIC.
The RLX portfolio of modern livestock selling facilities has a current annual turnover exceeding $1bn with its latest upgrade being the Central Victorian Livestock Exchange (CVLX) at Ballarat, which will open mid-year.
From the 24 May, the Camperdown saleyards will operate under new management and be renamed the Corangamite Regional Livestock Exchange (CRLX). The first sale under new management will take place on Tuesday 29 May.
It is expected that the CRLX facility will undergo a range of improvements in the coming years. These improvements will include transitioning the site to be a soft floor facility, improving onsite water usage and enhancing operational efficiencies.
Dan Muller, Business Transition Manager for the RLX portfolio said, “Our main focus is to maintain and en-hance regular sales at CRLX with a focus on expand-ing the range of services available at the facility”.
“Due to the nature and regional locations of the RLX facilities, our operations have a significant impact upon the communities, in which we operate. RLX is looking forward to engaging with and supporting the region where possible”, Mr Muller said.
Corangamite Shire Councillor and Chair of the Saleyards Advisory Committee Simon Illingworth said the long-term lease was “a vote of confidence” in the Camperdown Saleyards.
“Regional Livestock Exchanges has a proven track
record of investing in and improving regional saleyards across Australia,” he said.
“This long-term deal means stability and security for our farmers and stock agents, who will be able to get on with the job and continue to make it a great place to do business.
“I want to thank the stock agents and farmers for their patience while this deal was being signed,” he said.
Corangamite Shire Mayor Jo Beard said Council had always been committed to getting the best outcome for the future of the facility.
“The saleyards has enormous potential and it contin-ues to record strong sales in a competitive environ-ment.
“I want to thank everyone who has been involved in this process for their understanding and I encourage farmers, stock agents and members of the commu-nity to maintain their commitment to the local saleyards and the new operators,” Cr Beard added.
