IntroductionTechnology has become an important part of the classroom. In this power point I will introduce methods of technology used such as the smart board, computers, and more.

SmartboardThis tool helps the teacher present a variety of presentations on one small screen.You can use a marker to write on the screen, you can type on a computer linked to the board and it will show up on the screen, and you can even touch the screen to move around items or click on links. This has been integrated into many schools with the hopes of helping children understand technology better and help both the teacher and students have ease of access to information.

ComputersComputers are our gateway to information. But it isnt just used for the internet. It can be used as a text enlarger for visually challenged students, and can help motor skills with physically challenged students. You can teach students to type which is a vital skill. Students will use typing in the future for reports, emails, and is a skill which enables students to write neater and with greater ease. Computer labs, computers in the classroom and library, and computers in teachers offices or on their desks are means of integrating computers into the school.

BlogsMore and more, social networking is being used as a means of communication. Blogs for students means ease of access to vital information pertaining to the class, access to material on the internet recommended by the teacher and the ability to comment and ask questions anywhere there is a computer with internet access.

Itunes and PodcastsMusic stimulates minds. Itunes can stream music for listening (both appreciation and for education purposes). Itunes also can stream movies and tv shows. These can be purchased or downloaded with a digital copy. This can then be transferred to a smart board and voila! No more need for a dvd player. The itunes store also offers podcasts: a broadcast of a specific topic. Teachers can listen and subscribe to other teachers, topics of interest and topics pertaining to education. Universities also offer video podcasts to inform the community of lectures, events and information on the institution.

LaptopsLaptops are the portable computer. In higher levels of education, having a laptop is an asset because of its easy carrying and ease of writing.In elementary and junior high schools, laptops are used where there is no computer in the classroom available. Again, ease of access is a key component to putting this technology in the classroom.

Not just computersTechnology is not restricted to just computers. Other forms of technology are wheelchair lifts and elevators for physically challenged students, speakers, keyboards for music students to easily transport for performances, headphones or ear implements for disabled students, and much more.
