Brothers & Co-Workers,
This will unfortunately be a shorter-than-usual newsletter given the sudden cancelation of our many plans for April. This is a challenging time for our Lodge, our community and all of our members. While it’s just a matter of time before we’re able to resume our regular business, it will likely be a gradual process to get back up to full speed again. In the meantime, weekly email updates will be sent when there is new information to share.
I need your help! With our Lodge being closed for an extended period of time, I’m getting a small group of members together for some much needed repairs. If you are experienced with hand, table or compound miter saws, please contact me at 209-890-3813. We have several locations around the Lodge to repair but will adhere to social distancing guidelines.
A big thanks to Scott Freier for the great idea, but the driving force behind the lunch program has been Patti Corcoran and Elaine Shaffer. These ladies’ die hard, can-do enthusiasm is truly inspiring and our Lodge is a better place because of them, along with Jack Shaffer and Phil Melicker who are always there to support their many endeavors. Thanks also to Donovan Hammanaka and Tess Leary making home deliveries possible. We are off to a great start thanks to the food donations from Susanne St. Charles, and all other volunteers who have donated money or are making themselves available to help. The feedback from the community has been very positive.
As previously communicated, the following events in April are cancelled or postponed: Bingo, Workday, Kids Easter Party, New Member Orientation, Officers Installation. The LOOM officers meetings on April 7 and 21 will take place as scheduled, with adherence to social distancing.
I hope everyone is being safe and listening to our local authorities and medical experts. I wish everyone the best during this time of uncertainty.
Fraternally Yours,
Damon Bortz Governor 209-890-3813
GOVERNOR’S
MESSAGE

Brothers and Co-workers,
Things sure have changed since our last newsletter. I’m sure everyone knows the Lodge has closed normal
operations for the time being. We are serving free lunches on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We are using this
down time for long overdue maintenance. Our Governor, Damon Bortz, has been working his butt off trying to get
things done and the Lunch Committee, Scott Freier and Co-Chair Patti Corcoran and their team of volunteers are
doing a great job taking lunch orders and making sandwiches. We have received some very generous monetary
donations and also some great homemade food additions from our members to help support this lunch program.
Mooseheart and Moosehaven have closed their campuses to visitors and Moose International has reduced their
workforce to just a few at a time onsite and the others working from home. The annual Blessing of the Bikes at
Mooseheart in April has been cancelled. The Moose International Convention scheduled for May 21st through
May 26th is in limbo as of this writing. Deadlines for lodge ‘end of year’ reports and forms have been extended
with no penalties. All elections are postponed and current officers will stay in office until June 30. The LOOM
Officers will however hold their meetings in April as normal, on April 7 and 21.

Senior Regent’s Update
Hello Brothers and Co-workers,
Hope you are all doing well and staying comfortable in your homes. This community is small but strong and we will all get through this. It is amazing how many books you can read, movies you can watch and games you can play. Some of us are even spring cleaning. While the Lodge is closed we will take advantage of this time and not only spring clean but deep clean as well for all our safety.
Scott Freier had the great idea of helping our community by providing free lunches, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We are taking sandwich orders over the Moose Lodge phone (209-795-3112) from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can pull up to the front entrance of the Moose Lodge between these hours to pick up your order and we will bring lunch out to your car. If you are unable to drive or cannot leave your home, we can deliver to you. We have fresh Turkey, Salami, Ham and PB & J sandwiches available, which includes fresh fruit, chips and a dessert.
Thank you to Diane Freier, Kris & Damon Bortz, Patti Corcoran, Phil Melicker, Jack Shaffer and Donovan Hamanaka for volunteering. We have also had many generous cash and food donations to help keep this program going. Many of you have called and offered to help, we have an active list with your phone number, we will call you when the program ramps up and we need more assistance. We are trying to keep a minimum amount of people in the Lodge for the safety of all. Thank you all for being so thoughtful and for your willingness to volunteer.
For the safety of all we have canceled the WOTM chapter meetings during the month of April. The current WOTM board of officers will stay in office until June 30th, the new officer installation will take place in July, this was mandated by the WOTM Grand Chancellor, Barbara McPherson from Moose International.
Our Co-Worker of the month is Patti Corcoran. Patti chaired the WOTM crab feed which was a huge success. Patti co-chaired the five course Asian dinner and decorated the room beautifully for Chaz Armstrong’s 80th birthday party. Patti also co-chaired Scott and Diane Freier’s next adventure party. Her current project is our free lunch program. Patti is always full of energy and fun to work with. We thank you for all that you do!
“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” - Elizabeth Andrew
