Summer Tips to Keep Your Pets Cool & Happy! One thing is certain, if it's too hot for you, it'stoo hot for your pet! If it's comfortable foryou, it still may be too hot for your pet, if yourdog or cat is one of the brachycephalic(pushed in face) breeds. Their physical struc-ture with partially blocked windpipes and un-dersized nostrils, makes breathing difficulteven on the best of days. Take extra care ofthese pets especially on hot summer days. Forall pets, just as with children, it only takes alittle common sense and a little extra know-how to keep summer fun as well as safe.
1. #1 Summer Biggie! Never, ever leavepets alone in the car because, even with thewindows cracked open, your pet cannot getenough cool air into him to keep his tempera-ture stable. Spending 'just a moment' away atthe corner store is just enough time for yourpet to suffer deadly heat stroke. Don't risk it!Leave an adult in the car to keep it running andair-conditioned or leave your pet safely athome!
2. Exercising your dog outside? Do it earlymorning or in the later eve when the tempera-tures are cooler. Hot pavement or even sandon the beach, can burn the pads of your pet'sfeet! Chests, bottoms and genitalia can alsoget scorched for the zealots expecting theirdogs to 'sit' or 'down' at every street corner.Stop that! Even if your dog has been out jog-ging with you all spring, remember, your dogwill literally keep running until he dropswhereas, a human usually will have the brainsto stop short of that and seek shade and hy-dration. BE your pets' 'brains' here.
3) Hydration! It is important to keep yourpets' water dishes filled with fresh, cool wateror allow him access to water at all times. Ifyou are leaving your pet alone for the day, gethim an oversized water dish and add a blockof ice, to keep it refreshingly cool while you'regone.
4. Remember, your pet is the one wearingthe fur coat, so give him access to the air-con-ditioned or coolest part of your home! If yourpet is outside during the day, ensure he has ac-cess to shade at ALL times of the day, not justat a particular time of day. Make sure his waterdish is where he can reach it and can't tip itover. Access to a 'sprinkler' or 'mister' wouldbe great summer fun especially if shared withthe kids!
5. Remember always keep 'fans' away frompets! They can be severely injured by thewhirling blades.
PET LOVERS by Aileen W. Donovan, CHt. RM/T
6. My Great Dane LOVED to play and cooldown in a hard, plastic 'baby pool' filled withwater that I picked up for $10.00!
7. Watch pets around pools, and other bod-ies of water. Not all are able to get in and outon their own. Some tire quickly especially ifthey are not one of the avid swimming breeds.Well-fitted life jackets are a good option.
8) Please keep pets away from grills wherehe could burn himself. Cooked bones fromBBQ steak/chicken can and most often are, fatal when ingested.
9) Wherever vacationing, please ensure yourpet doesn't wander off. He may get lost, stolen, into a fight, or injured by a wild animal. Keephim safe, close to family within eye-shot at alltimes. Make sure his identification is on him.
10) Fireworks and thunderstorms are the baneof a lot of pets. Never ignore or make him feel'bad' if loud noises negatively affect him. It'syour job to teach, and reassure him all is well.Dragging him out to the park where there willbe fireworks is a bad idea. Leave him safelyat home. Find out what works best for your in-dividual pet, be it companionship, a chew toy,an 'escape' into his crate, a natural, calmingflower-essence like, 'Rescue Remedy' or 'Feli-way' for your cats. Taking the time to nip these'noise-fears' in the bud will save you years ofhaving your Dobermans & Shepherds sittingin your lap for the duration!
11) Keep bird cages and small pet terrariumsand aquariums away from windows that maybecome 'oven-hot' during summer months.Remember that birds LOVE their baths too! Please comply!
12) To keep smaller pets cooler, like Rabbitsand Guinea pigs etc...You can use a clean, empty Soda bottle that has been filled withwater, frozen and then wrapped in a towel (soas to absorb condensation and protect pet fromgetting too cold if they lay next to it) and placeit in your pets' cages on hot days. Make sureyour pet doesn't chew either the plastic or thetowel.
13) Elderly pets joints and bones are sensitiveto weather changes. Overweight pets are alsomore sensitive to summer heat, so please keepan extra eye on these special cases to helpkeep them comfortable. Happy Summer!

YOUR ANGEL MESSAGE,
Your Divine Life's PurposeHumans may experience goingthrough their lives very satisfied, then all of a sudden, they begin tofeel a nudging, an awareness ofneeding/being something 'more'.You begin to awaken to seeing lifeas something more than just 'hav-ing' a life and more about whatyou can offer to life.
It is in this awakening, you beginto acknowledge to yourself thatthere is more going on here onplanet Earth than the drone of nineto five jobs, head-nodding ac-quaintances, ceaseless televi-sion/computer nonsense filling upyour days and 'stuff' cramming upyour houses. As the knowledgecomes to you that you hold aunique part of this wonderfulworld, each with your own, veryspecial contribution in making thisdeserving planet a better place forall, you begin to question yourspecific role.
You begin to question what yourexact mission is supposed to be,what’s it all about and where doesyour part fit in here? This is usu-ally when the all-encompassingquestions come up for you, “Am Ion the right tract? “Am I fulfillingmy God-presence here? What didI truly come to Earth to accom-plish this time around?” and mostpressing, “What is my Life Pur-pose?”
The Angels are here and wouldlike to address this issue with amessage for you,
“Each life, from the quietest to thegrandest adds immeasurable valueto the whole of humanity. Neverquestion IF you are contributing, know that you are, in some way, whether aware or not. Know thatyou are precious and vital toEarth's plan. When you ask your-self, 'What is my Life's Purpose?'know that your purpose is what-ever brings the most joy into yourheart, because in bringing joy toyourself, you bring it to all others, thereby raising up the energy ofthe planet. The energy of yourHappy Being then spreads out andblankets ALL around you. Thesepositive energies are vital to Earth.God/Creator gave you, your ownunique gifts to share while onEarth. There is no struggle, nopuzzle to solve, you came here withthis 'gift' already in place.
So then, ask yourself, what bringsme the most pleasure in the doingof it? What do I know in my heartis what I do most easily and best? What do my family and friends tellme I am so good at? What makesmy heart soar? What fills my soulwith satisfaction? If you still can-not find the answer, ask us, yourAngels, we will bring you signs, symbols and gut feelings to guideyou to your answer. We are alwayshere for you and love to help youin any and all ways.”
