Avionics Training in basic training - A fresh approach

1- Evolution of aircraft systems means more electronics in aircraft

2- Limited Module 5 training time to cover Module 5

3- Instructors background is generally airframe/powerplant

4- Avionics systems functionalities can rarely be ‘seen and/or touched’

Page 3: EASA Part 66 Module 5 Practical Training · Part 66 Module 5 Practical Training Avionics Training in basic training - A fresh approach 1- Evolution of aircraft systems means more

Avionics Practical Training – the challenge

1- Cost• To configure avionics systems mockups • Avionics Test Equipment

2- Part 147 basic training aircraft limitations• Well equipped mechanically• Older avionics

3- Limited choices of training aids to address Module 5

Problem with the example shown?

üFew practical tasks for a module with 15 topics

üSome major topics (e.g. avionics data bus) not covered practically

üCurriculum assumes that some topics can be taught in classroom lectures without hands-on sessions

üIn your opinion, any other problem(s)?
