8-73

Page 2: E GG O SMOSIS E XPERIMENT Jairus Abaga 8-73. P URPOSE To observe osmosis 1. Place eggs in vinegar. (to remove shell) 2. Measure weight of the eggs with.

PURPOSE

To observe osmosis1. Place eggs in vinegar.

(to remove shell)2. Measure weight of the

eggs with a balance.3. Measure size of the

eggs with tape measure.

4. Place one egg in water then the other in corn syrup.

5. Measure weight and size again.

HYPOTHESIS

Egg in corn syrup Weight of egg will

increase Size of egg will be

larger The shape of the

egg will be a it will look the same

HYPOTHESIS

Egg in water Weight of egg will

decrease Size of egg will get

smaller The egg will look the

same

OBSERVATIONVinegar: Egg is bouncy Beaker was foamy after

24h Egg is squishy because

shell is missing by the vinegar

Water: Egg look fatter, when it

was in water for 24hSyrup: Egg looks deflated and

dented, when it was in corn syrup for 24h

CONCLUSIONWater: Egg got larger has low concentration Water moved to high

concentration(water) to low concentration(egg)

Corn syrup Egg got smaller High concentration Water moved to high

concentration (egg) to low concentration(syrup)

CONCLUSION

High concentration to low concentration.

High concentration to low concentration.

CONCLUSIONHypothesis: corn syrup Weight incorrect because

it decrease Size incorrect because it

decrease Shape incorrect because

it was dented and deflatedWater Weight incorrect because

it increase Size incorrect because it

increase Shape correct it look the

same
