Why is it being re-designed? • Organizing the profile tab to include all the student’s information, including the student schedule (not available on current Degree Works).

• Classes page will include class descriptions in the program that the student is in, along with the 4-year plan. • The student accounts page will have a drop down menu with: financial aid/FAFSA, 1098-T, loans, pay my bill, and refund information. • The registration page will allow the student to register for classes based on the major/minor, and will also suggest classes for every semester. • The career services page will display different jobs/internships that the student may want to take, based on his/her major or minor.

Bio: Amy is a 22 year old transfer student and has been in college for three years. Since she was a young child, Amy was into researching scientific topics. During her free time, she likes to stroll through nature and admire the landscapes that she comes across. Her passion for science led her to continue to re-search and discover new things that she is curious about. During her free time, when she is not wandering around, Amy enjoys taking pictures or drawing. She is currently a biology major, and hopes to go to med-ical school after she completes her remaining years at her new school, Montclair State University. At her previous college, Amy had to schedule her own classes to make sure that she was on the right track. Yes, she receieved advice from her advisor, but she felt that she should also know what classes she needs to take or she has already taken by herself. Now that she is a student at Montclair State University, Amy uses the program that the university uses, Degree Works, both on her phone and her computer. It was fairly simple to use, because she used a program similar to this program, named Web Advisor. Although she thinks that Web Advisor is more oragnized than Degree Works, Amy thinks that Degree Works is helpful, especially for navigating how many credits were taken and how many are remaining.

Julia (secondary)

Bio: Julia is a 20 year old, junior Visual Communication Design student at Montclair State University. She enjoys designing and sketching new ideas that

she has in her sketchbook in between her classes. One of her biggest goals is to

become an Art Director, like one of her favorite Graphic designers, David Carson.

Julia constantly looks at flyers that the university produces, and wishes that she

could design them herself. Some of her least favorite designs that the university

has are parts of the university website. She is experienced with using all parts

of the webpages both on her phone, and on her computer. One thing that she

wishes she could change is Degree Works, a computer interface that contains

all students’ classes, credits, grades, etc. She is not a fan of the colors used, and

thinks that the typography does not work because in certain areas, it can get too

small and all over the place. She wishes that she can reorganize the webpage as

a whole.

Bio: Sam is a 26 year old alumni from Montclair State University who majored in business. He wants to start his own Health Aid business and plans on using his

experience from her business classes to do so. He agrees with both Amy and Julia

that there are flaws in Degree Works, but there are also important aspects, such as

credits taken vs. credits remaining. He is used to websites changing every once in

a while, trying to be for the better. Sam hopes that he will have a website for his

business in the near future. Although he does not think that Degree Works is all

that bad, he would like for his Health Aid business website to be more organized

and user friendly.
