Flange material specification:
Pressure and temperature must not exceedits rating.
Gasket selection must be in line with therating of the flange.
The fluid being handled will affect thegasket selection.
All bolts must be compatible with theflange being used.
Pipe and its mating flanges should becleaned and made ready for assembly.
A clean and appropriate gasket should beselected for the flange type being used. Flatface and raised faces should not be mixed.
Piping should being properly supported with use of correctly sized hanging orsecuring brackets.
Flange components have their own designlimitations and correct selection andcompatibility is vital.
All pipes need to be aligned correctly to ensure that the valve integrity ismaintained, avoiding twisting and distortionof the valve’s structure and valve damage.
As the valve is assembled ensure that the bolts are placed and secured with nuts at hand tightness employing thecrossover method of tightening to secure a sound joint.
Butterfly valves provide positive shut off inboth flow directions. The disc profile isdesigned to give sealing properties atminimum torque. Raised seat profile provides positive flange seal.
Flange connections
Welded joints should be made by qualifiedinstallers having carried out the requisiterisk assessments and health and safety considerations.
