DS1 FR 32-port LM Total Access 5000 DS1 FR 32-port Line Module Product Features ■ Supports 32 DS1s ■ Supports Frame Relay over IP ■ Redundant/Non-Redundant Operation ■ Extended temperature hardened ■ Command Line Interface (CLI) ■ Total Access EMS support ■ Industry-leading Ten-year Warranty As networks continue to converge towards an all-Ethernet infrastructure, customers with legacy business services must be migrated onto these next generation networks for continued service. The Total Access ® 5000 DS1 FR 32-Port Line Module provides channelized Frame Relay (FR) over IP network connectivity to a Total Access 5000 system by way of 32 DS1 interfaces. Customer routers or integrated access devices that are connected through traditional SONET and TDM infrastructure, and that are also using a variety of link layer protocols to carry IP traffic over DS1, can be migrated to an Ethernet infrastructure using the ADTRAN ® Total Access 5000. Equipped with this 32-port DS1 access module family, the Total Access 5000 can support a variety of protocols, such as Point-to Point Protocol (PPP), Multi-link PPP (MLPPP), FR, and ATM/IMA, that can be implemented in a phased approach. The DS1 FR 32-Port module supports Frame Relay over IP protocol and single-T1 PPP services. Additionally, the DS1 FR 32-Port is supported in redundant and non-redundant configurations based upon the input/output module chosen for deployment. Frame Relay operates at the data link layer and provides end-to-end connectivity for devices across a point-to-point link in adherence to RFC 894 by de-encapsulating the customer IP data from Frame Relay and re-encapsulating that customer IP data into an Ethernet VLAN. The DS1 FR 32-Port will forward frames from a T1 channel with FR encapsulation to the Ethernet uplink with a single VLAN tag (S-tag). Supporting an industry standards-based implementation provides operators with an ability to aggregate a wide-variety of frame relay over IP customer premises equipment. The DS1 FR 32-Port Line Module is designed to operate with a nominal operating voltage of –48 VDC and a minimum operating voltage of –40 VDC. The DS1 FR 32-Port Line Module will not be damaged by any steady state voltage between 0 VDC and 56.7 VDC magnitude. Front-panel LEDs include power, alarms, and status for each subscriber loop. The Line Module supports a CLI through the craft interface or remote telnet interface via the Total Access 5000 System Controller Module (SCM). More comprehensive management is available using the Total Access Element Management System (EMS). All provisioning data is supported through the SCM communi- cations link.
