GrammarColons and Semicolons

The following are types of fuel: gasoline, oil, and wood. The car’s engine began to sputter; it ran out of gas.

“ : ” A colon is used at the end of a complete sentence that introduces a series or list.

“ ; ” A semicolon is used to join two clauses that have similar ideas.

Write a couple of sentences sing colons and semicolons and exchange the sentences with a partner.
