Since beginning in 1984, the Cochran Fellowship Program has trained over 14,300 Fellows from 123 countries around the world.

Cochran Fellowship Program

Administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service.

Provides U.S.-based agricultural training opportunities for senior and mid-level specialists and administrators from public and private sectors who are concerned with agricultural trade, agribusiness development, management, policy and marketing.

Selection Procedures:

The U.S. Embassy announces programs (June-August).

Applications are required to be completed in English (preferably typed) and submitted to the US Embassy (August).

A final pool of applicants will be selected and interviewed during a country visit by a program manager (September).

Selection Procedures:

Final approval of candidates is made by a USDA committee on the basis of a candidate's qualifications, recommendations, interview, and country specific training needs (October-November).

USDA notifies U.S. Embassy of recipients. U.S. Embassy notifies recipients (October-November).
