NOTES: CHEMISTRY CLASS PROCEDURES10th Grade HONORS Chemistry
Mr. Reimer
Start of ClassWhen you enter this classroom, your volume
should be at a level 1. Once the bell rings you are at a level 0 should stay there until your teacher tells you otherwise.
Pick up the day’s handouts and that day’s homework from the computer cart by the door. That day’s homework should be put away
immediately. If your teacher sees you working on the homework during class, you will receive a 0 on the assignment, a LaSalle, AND 1 demerit for being off task.
Start of Class
Sit in your assigned seat, take out the previous night’s homework, write your HW assignment in your agenda, and begin your Do Now.
If your bottom is not in your seat when the bell rings, you will be marked tardy.
If you forget to get the handouts at the door, it will be 1 demerit for being off task.
Do Now
0Either on the left side of the board or on the Power point
Put forth your best effort on your Do Now. It may be collected and/or graded.
You may not work with a partner, but you are welcome to use any notes or handouts from class.
Handing in Homework0First minute of class0Make sure it is stapled and has your
name on it. 0Pass to the left, and put yours on top.0Don’t be the weakest link!0LaSalle will be given for less than 100%
completion. 0Finish the HW in LaSalle for 50%0DON’T argue a LaSalle in class.
Coming to Attention & Hand Raising
I will ding the bell. If you are still talking after I ding the bell
twice, you will automatically receive 1 demerit (NO warning).
You are always expected to raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking. If you choose to call out, you will receive
1 warning and then 1 demerit.
Passing papers:
0Pass papers quickly and calmly. Pass them to your left only. Put your paper at the top of the stack and make sure all of the papers in your pile are facing the same direction.
During Class Procedures
Remain in your seat at all times. Do not get up to sharpen a pencil—there is no
pencil sharpener. Raise your hand and cover your nose to indicate
that you need a tissue. Throw your tissues/papers in the trash as you
leave class.Take all personal items with you when you
leave class. Do not leave ANYTHING in the lab drawers. 2 demerits if I find it! NO exceptions.
Personal Needs
If you need to use the bathroom during class, raise your hand and cross your fingers. Do not request a bathroom escort during
instructional time or the 5 minutes of class except unless it is an emergency; wait for independent work time.
If you go to the restroom in my class, you will receive 1 demerit.
Note-taking:
• You are responsible for maintaining complete and accurate notes. Title and date all notes.
• BOARD/ELMO/PPT = NOTES on loose leaf. Place in the back of your binder
• 1st Quarter: Guided notes take notes on loose leaf and place in back of binder. Title and date.
• 2nd, 3rd , & 4th Quarters: verbal notes
Greeters
It is your responsibility to check the greeter board daily.
Dismissal
Your teacher dismisses you, not the bell.
You will receive demerits for being off-task if you pack up early.
Clean up after yourself: take ALL of your belongings. Empty your lab drawers!
Push in your stool.
Make-up work
Classwork & Homework: Check the WIKI. If you were in class, you
shouldn’t need the WIKI. You are responsible for picking up CW and/or HW
from the appropriate folders on the door when you are absent.
If you would like to talk with me about make-up work, see me after school.
Tests &Quizzes Speak to your teacher after school about making
up tests & quizzes if you are going to be absent.
Hello Mr. Reimer,
I hope you are having a great summer! I have a lot of favorite science memories. A few of the memories are dissecting a pig, even though I was terrified to touch it, learning about DNA, learning about cancer, debates, and doing cool experiments, such as can crush experiment, etc. Moreover, studying the periodic table, which I forgot a few but I'm very interested and fascinated by the periodic table for some odd reason.
Have a great summer,Sally Muchin
