He said, the lockdown will be for a week's time till 31st of May. The essential item, which was a cause of concern Media briefed on COVID-19 Shops selling essential items allowed to open for two hours from 6 am to 8 am during lockdown in public interest: Secretary (IP&T) People urged to strictly adhere to COVID Appropriate Behaviour for the general public, will be allowed to open from 6 am to 8 am every day even in the lockdown period, the Secretary said urging the people to follow COVID appropriate behavior while going to purchase essential commodities. He said public need not queue up in shops as all the shops selling essential items will be open between 6 am and 8 am every day and they can purchase it in the stipulated time. The Secretary sought the co-operation of the general public during the lockdown period and said for their convenience only, the shops of essential items have been kept open for 2 hours everyday. He said that all the POL outlets shall be remain open from 6 am to 1 pm on all days and requested the general public not to rush up at Petrol bunks. The Secretary urged the Islanders not to panic and do not overstock essential items. The A&N Administration has taken the decision to go for lockdown to contain the spread of the virus and to save the precious lives of the Islanders, he said. Referring to the Rapid Mayabunder, May 22 The District Magistrate, North and Middle Andaman District, Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan in partial modification of Order No. 72 dated 30 th April, 2021 and Order No. 73 dated 4 th May, 2021 has ordered that all shops & establishments will remain shut except the following as per terms and conditions as under with immediate effect in North & Middle Andaman District. Measures to prevent spread of COVID-19 in N&M Andaman District As per the Order issued today, provision stores, vegetable shops, shops dealing with food, groceries, fruits, dairy & milk booth/ shop, meat and fish, animal feed/ fodder, chemist/ pharmaceutical stores, optical, bakery, mechanical workshop shall be permitted and home delivery of items should be preferred. Any overcrowding on violation of social distancing will be responsibility of the shopkeepers and will invite fine of Rs. 2000/- for violation of social distancing norms and Rs. 2500/- for overcrowding in shops/ establishments, along with sealing of shop for 7 days. In-situ constructional activities will be permitted, but no movement of labourers are permitted out of the work site. Contractor/ Manager will be held responsible for any deviation. About 338 people in the age group of 18 to 44 years were vaccinated in South Andaman today. Similarly, 273 beneficiaries were vaccinated at N&M Andaman District while 60 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Car Nicobar. The online registration for the vaccination is done through CoWIN portal and Aarogya Setu App. Online registration is mandatory and no on- site registration will be done and people has been advised to reach the centres as per the time schedule provided to the beneficiaries through the App. In South Andaman, the vaccination is being done at JNRM Vaccination Centre between 9.30 am and 671 registered beneficiaries in the age group of 18 to 44 years vaccinated 1, 20, 387 doses of vaccine administered so far in Isles 12.30 pm. Accordingly, IAS and IFS Officers have been deputed to monitor strict compliance of COVID protocols at various places in South Andaman District, a press release received here said. the cases of COVID-19, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, District Magistrate, South Andaman District, in exercise of the powers vested U/s 144 of Cr.P.C., has ordered lockdown to be imposed in the entire District of South Andaman with effect from May 24 (Monday). As per the order issued today, shops selling essential items such as provision stores, vegetable shops, shops dealing with food, groceries, fruits, dairy and milk booth/shop, meat, animal feed/fodder, bakeries will be allowed to open from 6 am to 8 am by observing COVID Appropriate Behaviors. It will be the sole responsibility of the owner/In-Charge of the shop/business establishment to ensure its compliance, failing which he will be liable to be fined to the tune of Rs. 25,000/- in addition to sealing of the shop/ establishment for a period of 14 days by the Executive Magistrate. Home delivery of items will be encouraged and promoted. Movement of bare minimum personnel attached with such organisations will be allowed for which valid e-passes will be issued by the Office of District Magistrate based on the certification from the concerned organisation. Home Delivery and Movement of persons of all mentioned services will also be allowed between 9 am and 6 pm. No movement of men and material other than the time fixed for opening of shops between 6 am and 8 am will be allowed except for persons having valid movement/e-passes issued by the Office of the District Magistrate. Movement will be allowed for emergency cases, medical emergencies, pregnant women and patients availing medical services. The Order further states that Clinical establishments, Chemists and Pharmacy shops will be allowed to open with movement of bare minimum personnel attached with such organisations for which valid e-passes will be issued by the Office of District Magistrate based on the certification from the concerned organisation. Home delivery of medicines will be encouraged and promoted. Persons engaged for essential activities for movement of goods on Andaman Trunk Road, loading and unloading of essential cargo will be allowed on production of valid movement passes issued by the Office of District Magistrate. Antigen Test (RAT) conducted among passengers, the Secretary said, onMay 22, two flights with 218 passengers arrived and during the Rapid AntigenTest (RAT) conducted on these passengers, none of them were foundpositive. He further informed that 165 persons bound for Middle & NorthAndaman were tested at Ferrargunj of which 5 persons were found positive.
About vaccination drive, the Secretary said it is continuing and today430 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman, out of which338 were of 18 + and rest of them were above 45+ age. The Secretary furtherinformed that vaccination for 18+ eligible beneficiaries have been furtherincreased from 300 to 500 per day.The Director ANIIMS, Dr. AK Mandal responding to a query said that allthe procedures related to declaring mucormycosis disease as pandemic isunder process. The Deputy Director, G.B. Pant Hospital, Shri Amitabha De said that 14new COVID patients were admitted today in G.B. Pant Hospital and 12patients were discharged. With this, the number of corona positive patientsin Hospital has reached 90, out of which, 73 are on Oxygen support and 5 areon ventilator. He said that altogether, 7 patients were admitted today atCOVID Care Centres and 4 patients were discharged and the number ofpatients in the COVID Care Centres is 57. He further informed that 1 COVIDpatient was admitted and 1 patient was discharged from COVID Care CentreWimberlygunj and 7 patients are still admitted in the Centre, he added.

All religious places/places of worship willbe closed for public worship. Further religiouscongregations/gatherings are strictlyprohibited. Any person/organisation violatingthe above directions shall be liable to be finedto the tune of Rs. 10,000/, which shall be payableby the Management Committee.
