Entry requirements for Australian/New Zealand studentsCompletion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent.

Successful study within the health care pathways assumes a minimum level of knowledge in certain subject areas (i.e. ‘assumed knowledge’); knowledge in other subject areas may also prove helpful (i.e. ‘recommended study’). The table below provides guidance for Diploma of Health Care pathways. The College offers a range

of Bridging Subjects designed to satisfy assumed and recommended study areas. Students enrolled in the Diploma can undertake Bridging Subjects as part of their Diploma studies and still complete their award in just one year. For more information, please visit: griffithcollege.edu.au

Some student may need to consider classes between 5.30pm and 9.30pm as part of their timetable, if daytime classes are unavailable. Students interested in taking classes after 5.00pm should consult a Griffith College Academic Advisor.

Laboratory classes may be held in intensive mode over a weekend.

Students may be required to undertake off-campus clinical placements in the weeks following the end of the final examination period.

Students will be required to purchase additional clothing and equipment as well as cover costs associated with immunisation and pre-placement checks. Inability to meet pre-placement checks may result in an inability to undertake some elements of the Diploma, and therefore restrict completion of the program.

After successful completion of your Diploma of Health Care, students complete 1809NRS Effective Nursing Practices in the form of an intensive delivery over January/February the following year. This intensive summer course, delivered by Griffith University will enable students to complete their Bachelor of Nursing in a further 2 years.

Progression:Australian citizens and permanent residents:

Upon successful completion of a Griffith College Diploma and achievement of a GPA ≥ 3.75, students will be guaranteed entry to the related Griffith program providing their rank is greater than or equal to the current QTAC cut-off for that program.

Australian citizens and permanent residents that are unsuccessful in obtaining a direct entry place at Griffith University can apply for a place in their preferred degree via QTAC, and be considered along with other external applicants.

International students, Australian citizens and permanent residents:

Progression from the Diploma of Health Care is limited (a quota of 50 places per intake exists for entry to the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing degree). Students are required to at least meet minimum GPA and / or rank requirements as outlined above to be eligible for consideration for a place in the degree. If student numbers exceed the quota, places in the degree will be awarded on the basis of the highest GPA and the highest average mark across completed Diploma courses.

Please note: If your preferred Bachelor program is not listed above, please contact Griffith College to obtain more information on the possible pathway options.

80 credit points is equivalent to one year of full-time study. Completion of degrees where students obtain less than 80 credit points of advanced standing in the degree, may take additional time.
