Int’l Marketing organizes lecture on new world oil order

In the presence of HE Minister of Oil, State Minis-ter for Parliament Affairs, Chairman of KPC board of Directors Dr. Ali Saleh Al-Omair, Chief Execu-tive Officer and a number of top officials from the oil sector, International Marketing Sector at KPC organized a lecture entitled ‘New world oil order’ on Thursday February 5, 2015 in the auditorium of the oil sector’s complex.

The lecture was given by Manager of Market Re-search Department Mr. Haitham Al-Ghais in col-laboration with International Marketing Sector represented by Mrs. Rana Al-Abdulrazzaq, Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Attar, Mr. Hani Al-Awadhi and Mr. Abdullah Zaid who highlighted the reasons and consequences of the decline of oil prices.

The lecturers highlighted the major traditional rea-sons which led to declining the oil prices during the past period among which the hike of US produc-tion from shale oil, the increase in oil production of Canada and the change of the international eco-nomic growth. Add to this the decline of demand in the international markets which is expected to last until the end of 2015; besides other untradi-tional changes on top of which the instability of

US dollar exchange and speculations on oil in the international oil bourses.

They clarified that the decline of oil prices caused negative consequences on huge oil companies, as they had to reduce their oil investments to man-age such negative impacts. They indicated the cur-rent phase will witness hard competition among oil producers to dominate markets particularly the Asian market which has become a profitable des-tination for most oil producing countries after the American demand on oil declined due to the hike of its shale oil production.

They pointed out that many producing countries from Africa and Latin America began targeting the Asian market; the matter caused pressure over GCC oil producing countries – Kuwait, Saudi Ara-bia and UAE – as they have to compete sturdily to keep their Asian clients particularly after Iraq, whose oil price is less than the price of GCC oil, began to target this promising market. This means that the coming phase will witness fierce competi-tion among oil producing countries to win shares in the Asian markets.
