Lord’s Peace and Merry Christmas Saint Monica Parish, Amid the clamor, lights, cookies, and gifts I find it difficult to imagine how poor the Holy Family was that first Christmas. Dirt, bugs, sweat, and the smell of manure was the world that God choose to be born into. How cold that first Christmas was in the case forgotten in Bethlehem. Did any hear the baby cry; did any hear the Savior of the world call out that first night? To peasants God was born. Art makes it glorious, however the first Christmas was gritty. What of that first Christmas is alive in our homes during this Christmas break? What part of that humiliating beginning is part of our daily Christian life? Where has the gritty glory of Christmas gone? The New Year is upon us and each of us will be asked to consider resolutions. Weight loss, better performance at work, getting in shape are all among the top contenders for New Year’s resolutions. What about sin loss, better Christian performance, and getting in spiritual shape? What about looking deeper into the bright light of that first Christmas that shined through the grime? Where is His Light in our darkness, are we striving to be the Holy Family, do we reflect the King
of Glory no matter the grit or grime of our own sin or lives? Saint Monica is not a perfect place or a parish that will make every-one happy. However, our sacred purpose, willed by God, is to ten-derly adore and serve Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, joyfully evan-gelize the estranged, catechesis the faithful, form intentional disci-ples, and become stewards of God's gifts. As a community of sin-ners, we endeavor to make the parish a home and refuge for sin-ners, a place of support and mature Christian relationship. We struggle to be His Light and to help you become holy families.
Thank you to everyone who has been so generous to the parish, the priests, and the staff this Christmas and year. We are most grateful for the gifts that you have made to the parish and to us. It is our honor to work beside you in spreading the Light of Jesus Christ. From grime to Glory we journey together as a family of faith in 2015.
Peace of Christ and a Blessed New Year,
Fr. Schreck

Dear Fellow Parishioners, We hope you are enjoying your home baked cookies from our cookie sale and are still getting some pleasure out of your beautiful poinsettias. The churches really look beauti-ful so if you did not purchase a poinsettia, you can still en-joy them when you are at Mass. They were really excep-tional this year. We hope the Christmas season for our parish family is proving to be gratifying as well as spiritual. The feast of The Holy Family is a reminder to me to thank God for my personal blessing of a most wonderful family. My family & I are also very blessed to be part of a most wonderful parish family. I cannot express to you how important and appreci-ated your support is to me. It makes my job very exhilarat-ing to know we all contribute to making our parish and our school very spiritual vehicles available to all who seek and need either. We are truly blessed to have each other. On behalf of the staff and student body, may you have a very prosperous, happy New Year. And my all your celebra-tions and festivities be safe. And again, thank you for your continued support of your parish school. God Bless, Mr. Brad Diamond, Principal

GENEVA COLLEGE OUTREACH
Catholic at Geneva College is an outreach to the Catholic student population at Geneva from St. Monica Parish. It
exists to help Catholic students grow and develop in their Catholic Faith as they encounter the questions that will in-
evitably arise while attending an evangelical Protestant in-
stitution. Dave Lichius is the facilitator of this group. He is the owner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Bookstore and a
member of St. Monica’s parish. Meetings are held every Monday night from 8-9pm at the Beaver Falls Coffee
& Tea Company (3219 4th Ave, Beaver Falls) directly across the street from the Main Campus.
VSP - BOX TOP & LABELS FOR EDUCATION PROJECT The VSP Box Top Project has been very successful. Each
box top earns 10 cents for St. Monica’s Catholic Academy. In addition to that project, the VSP will collect Labels for
Education. Labels are on Campbell’s soups, Post cereals,
Glad storage bags, and more. The UPC must be on the label to count. Labels earn points toward art and gym sup-
plies. Please clip your box tops and labels and deposit in boxes at any church site. Thank you for your support.
PRAYER SHAWLS In addition to the beautiful prayer-filled shawls, we now
also freely offer prayer-filled collars. They are 35” long and 4” wide, and drape nicely around the neck. They are espe-
cially nice for those who are bedfast as well as those who prefer a smaller shawl. They are in the same chest with
the shawls located in the office.
