possible. Even the local Boy Scout Troop woke up early to serve 1,100 pancake break-fasts for the families waiting in line. The families were very grateful for the breakfast and coffee served, because some of them began lining up for the event the day before!

However, it was definite-ly worth the wait as families had a great time at this year’s Christmas Gift Mart. Parents were able to pick out Christmas presents while their children made holiday crafts. Then, vol-unteers wrapped the gifts and took them to each family’s cars. Children were also excited to meet Santa, Santa’s elves, Spi-

der-Man, Princess Belle, and Kylo Ren. The entertainment continued with performances by the Eleanor Roosevelt High School band, choir, and drama departments. In addition, free raffles and balloon animals were provided to the families before they went in to shop.

This event continues to touch the lives of local families each year. “One family told us that their child just got out of the hospital and without us, they wouldn’t have been able to af-ford Christmas,” said Monique Whritenour, VantagePoint Op-erations & Outreach Director.

“Families were blessed, lives were changed, and we found a tangible way to be living proof of a loving God to those around us,” Whritenour added. ■

Shannon Scheller is a Nu-tritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and she is the founder of HoliRooted Wellness. Shan-non’s goal as a NTP is to help educate you on the simple changes you can make in your life that will affect the health of you and your family. She strives to help you reduce your toxic load in daily products and food, as well as restore prop-er function within your body. Shannon can help you and your family get ROOTED in a holistic approach to fuel your body for battle and support op-timal levels of vitality.

“I am passionate about em-powering others with education about the simple changes you can make to improve cellular function, create a healthy home environment, and help your family thrive!” says Scheller.

Shannon’s desire to help others started when her daugh-ter was diagnosed with can-cer. “When my daughter was diagnosed 2 years ago, I felt powerless as the Doctors told me there was nothing I could do and that every calorie is a GOOD calorie. My mommy powers were completely gone until I focused on nutrition and overall wellness,” said Scheller. “She thrived through treatment due to supporting proper cellu-lar function and reducing toxic load.” Now, Shannon is happy to report that her daughter is 1 ½ years cancer free!

After her daughter’s treat-ment, Shannon completed her education to become a Nu-tritional Therapy Practitioner, and she continues to stay in-formed of new research to this day. She wants to educate and empower others to take their health back. “Every calorie DOES matter, let me teach you why!” says Scheller.

Booking a Nutritional Ther-

apy Consultation with Shan-non will allow you to receive a health history analysis, a 3-day food and mood journal evalu-ation, a signs and symptoms analysis and 2 support calls to walk you through this journey. “Together we map out a plan of lifestyle and dietary recommen-dations that will support the overall function and health of your body,” said Scheller.

However, Nutritional Thera-py is more than learning how to eat healthy. “I address your top health concerns by looking into nutritional deficiencies, dys-function or any imbalance you may have. You are individually unique even down to your mi-crobiome,” says Scheller.

Shannon will do a deep in-vestigation into your signs and symptoms to help her under-stand the healing nutrients you need. “This will allow us to get to the ROOT cause,” Scheller said.

“I also love to empower and educate on all things holistic,” added Scheller. Shannon is passionate about educating on nutrition, essential oils, detoxifi-cation methods, and especially how to reduce the toxins with-in your home. “These are my driving force! Let me teach you how to create a life of vitality!” said Scheller.

Visit www.holirootedwell-ness.com today to sign up for an amazing deal on a Nutri-tional Therapy Consultation. However, on top of that already great deal, Shannon is offering an even BIGGER discount for a limited time only. Get 30% off when you type in the code ROOTED30.

Shannon’s website also in-cludes a link to her blog, where you can read the following arti-cles: Healthy Holiday Gift Guide; How to Support Healthy Breast Tissue; and How to Support Someone Whose Child Was Just Diagnosed With Cancer. ■

SAVING LIVES with New Cardiac Care Capabilities

Corona Regional Medical Center is now approved and licensed as a PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) facility by the California Department of Public Health for specialized cardiac care.

How PCI WorksWhen every moment counts, Interventional Cardiologists at Corona Regional can use PCI to rapidly intervene and treat patients experiencing a heart attack.

To open a blood vessel narrowed by plaque buildup (atherosclerosis) or occluded by a clot (myocardial infarction) the Interventional Cardiologist can perform a balloon angioplasty and stent placement. It’s a nonsurgical, often lifesaving, procedure.

Know the Symptoms of a Possible Heart Attack

running from the location after the shooting,” said Sergeant Walter Mendez in a news re-lease. “But no further informa-tion is available at this time,” Mendez added.

After the incident occurred, several members of the com-munity turned to social media group pages asking what hap-pened and what the suspect

Shooting from page 1looked like. The posts caused a lot of speculation of what could have led to the shooting. However, out of respect for the family, many administrators of the social media sites deleted or addressed comments that contained unconfirmed infor-mation. A family member of Lo-pez even commented on a post stating that the incident was not a result of domestic violence. All parties reiterated that the incident is under investigation and information regarding the suspect’s appearance will be

released when available. The Riverside County Sher-

iff’s Department-Central Homi-cide Unit and the Jurupa Val-ley Station Investigators have assumed the investigation, according to Mendez. Area Crime Recap: November 2018

Joy StealersBy Pastor Tim Eaton

Joy. Its as much a part of Christmas as trees, gifts, mangers, and mall Santas.

We see signs that say it, and hear songs that sing about it. But do we have it? The tragedy of Christmas is that we often find a million reasons not to have joy at this “The most wonderful time of the year.” Spend-ing too much on gifts, the pressure to have the house, the clothes, or the family just right; juggling family time with other commitments; or ex-tended family drama can drain the joy right out of Christmas. For still others the joy of Christmas has been stolen more naturally by the onset of physical ailments or the loss of loved ones.

For a season of joy there sure seems to be a lack of it! But that’s exactly why God sent his son into the world. He sent him to be a gift to overshadow and overpower even

the worst of joy stealers. His gift of Jesus was announced with these words: “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” (Luke 2:10) In-deed, he is greater than whatever troubles you have! This Christmas clear away the stress and the clut-ter and remember the one who is the reason for the season is great-er than the stressors of the season. When your Christmas isn’t perfect remember that HE IS the perfect gift for you.

Some people love wrapping gifts. Others can’t stand it! To restore your holiday JOY, Edgewater will be offering totally free (no donation) gift wrapping in front of Kohl’s in East-vale on Sunday, December 16th from 2 to 5 pm. We are gathering a team that love wrapping just in case you don’t.

Put the JOY back in your Christ-mas: Christmas Music Celebration 12/23 5pm Christmas Eve 12/24 5pm. Pastor Tim Eaton, Edgewater Lutheran Church Sundays at 10am-Harada Elementary, 12884 Oakdale St. Eastvale, 92880, www.Edgewa-terLutheran.org. ■

DETAILS: On Monday, Octo-ber 22, 2018, a Riverside County Sheriff’s school resource officer investigated a reported theft at the Norco High School campus, located at 2065 Temescal Ave-nue, in the City of Norco. The in-vestigation revealed that on Sat-urday, October 20, 2018, about 11:13 p.m., a suspect had en-tered the campus and removed copper drainage lines from sev-eral air-conditioner units located on different buildings within the campus. In addition to stealing the copper, the suspect caused approximately $10,000 in dam-age to the units. On Wednesday, October 24, 2018, about 11:56 p.m., the suspect returned to the campus and stole additional cop-per lines, causing further damage to the existing air-conditioning units. Both thefts were recorded through the campus camera sur-veillance system, providing dep-uties with the suspect’s physical identifying information. On Tues-day, November 6, 2018, about 2:00 p.m., a deputy assigned to the Norco Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team, contacted Timothy Wayne Arnett, age 45, a Corona resident, during a narcot-ics related investigation. During this subsequent investigation, Arnett was identified as the theft suspect responsible for the Norco High School incident. Based on the information collected during the investigation, Arnett was ar-rested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for the charge of grand theft. INCIDENT: FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION

INCIDENT UPDATE: 11/9/2018

ORIGINAL INCIDENT: 10/23/2018

WHERE: Van Buren Blvd & 56th St., Jurupa Valley

UPDATE: On Friday, Novem-ber 9, 2018, George Ponce, of Jurupa Valley, was discharged from Riverside Community Hos-pital, where he had been treated for injuries sustained from the fatal traffic collision on October 23, 2018. George Ponce was im-mediately arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on four counts of 191.5 (a) P.C. (Gross Vehicular Man-slaughter while Intoxicated).

ORIGINAL INCIDENT DE-TAILS: On Tuesday, October 23, 2018, about 11:45 PM, officers from the Jurupa Valley Police Department responded to a re-port of a major traffic collision on Van Buren Boulevard, south of 56th Street, Jurupa Valley. Upon arriving, officers located a traffic collision involving four vehicles. The preliminary investigation identified a single occupant ve-hicle was traveling northbound on Van Buren Boulevard and at-tempted to make a westbound turn onto 56th Street. The driver failed to negotiate the turn and traveled into southbound lanes of Van Buren Boulevard and collid-ed with the vehicle occupied by four individuals. All four individ-uals were pronounced deceased by emergency medical person-nel on scene. Two additional vehicles traveling southbound sustained minor vehicle dam-age only attempting to avoid the collision. The driver who caused the collision sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospi-tal where he was admitted. Alco-hol appears to be a contributing factor in this traffic collision. The Jurupa Valley Station’s Traffic Re-construction Team is conducting a full investigation. The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Anyone with information regard-ing this fatal traffic collision is en-couraged to call Deputy Ditfurth at the Jurupa Valley Station, 951-955-2600. INCIDENT: FALSE BOMB REPORT/ SCHOOL THREATS INVESTIGATION AND ARREST

WHEN: August 2018- 11/14/18WHERE: Norco High School,

NorcoDETAILS: Starting in August

2018 and spanning several months, the Norco Sheriff’s Of-fice, received several school vi-olence related threats from an unidentified suspect. The threats were directed toward Norco High School, located at 2065 Temes-cal Avenue, in the city of Norco. In each instance, the Norco Sher-iff’s Office responded to the high school and conducted thorough safety sweeps to ensure the safe-ty of students and faculty. The threats resulted in tying up Sher-iff’s resources, delaying school schedules, as well as greatly in-conveniencing students, faculty, and parents. The threats were de-

termined not to be credible. The investigation was assumed by the Norco Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team, who spent several months tracking down leads in an attempt to identify and locate the suspect. On Thursday, November 8, the Jurupa Valley Station School Resource Officer, assigned to Norco High School, developed information that led to the suspect’s identity and res-idence location. On Monday, No-vember 12, deputies assigned to the School Resource Officer Unit, the Norco Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team, and the De-partment’s Special Investigation Bureau, served a search warrant at a residence, located in the City of Corona. During the service of the warrant, deputies were able detain the suspect, identified as a male juvenile, in addition to re-covering evidence related to the crime. The investigation revealed the threats were not credible. The suspect was subsequently arrest-ed for making false bomb reports and transported to the Norco Sheriff’s Office for processing. The Norco Sheriff’s Office and Jurupa Valley Station School Re-source Unit, in our partnership with the Corona-Norco Unified School District, is committed to the safety of all our students and school faculty. Anyone making bomb threats, threats or reports of violence against any of our schools, students, or to our com-munity, will be thoroughly inves-tigated and held accountable for their actions. Anyone with infor-mation pertaining to this investi-gation is encouraged to contact Deputy Jeff Scott or Matt Fauch-er, at (951) 270-5673. ■

By Pastor Dennis Morales

“Now in those days a decree went out from Cae-sar Augus-

tus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth…” Luke 2:1-5

I ran across a quote that read “IRS auditor to taxpayer, as nurse prepares a syringe: "She is going to numb the area around your wallet." In most cases, when we hear the word tax, our minds do go to our wal-lets. It was no accident that Dr. Luke mentioned the name of Caesar Augustus. This man signed a tax bill that the whole world (of that day) be taxed. He

needed money to raise an army to control his vast empire and to live in luxury himself.

It was prophesied that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem of the house and lineage of King David (Micah 5:2) 700 years before. Mary and Joseph re-sided in Nazareth. At the very time for Mary to give birth, all were summoned to the house of their ancestry for the census (Luke 2:1-5). All who were of the lineage of David were to visit Bethlehem. Both Mary and Joseph are of the lineage of David, so both had to go to Bethlehem.

Precisely according to Bible prophecy, and God’s sover-eignty, Mary gave birth to Jesus in Bethlehem (Matthew 1:21-23, Isaiah 7:14 prophesied 800

years before). Such an event rooted deeply in prophesy and is proven that man could not orchestrate something of this magnitude.

Joy came to the world in mi-raculous fashion. This was a taxation time in history where we look back at the and its for-ever linked to our hearts, not our wallet. God orchestrat-ed when the Messiah, Jesus, was to be born into this world to save mankind from sin and instill hope forever into all who believe. He did this for you.

time and money,” says Ron Gri-jalva, General Manager of Blue Haven Pools & Spas in the In-land Empire.

According to Grijalva, with today’s consumers more tech-savvy, more environ-mentally friendly, and more time-conscious than ever be-fore, they expect a pool that delivers a real return on their investment. As a result, the traditional backyard pool has changed to respond.

“People drive a car that’s loaded with the latest gadgets,” he says. “So it’s natural to want a pool with all the bells and whistles that delivers similar kinds of lifestyle benefits.”

In the Inland Empire, says Grijalva, pool buyers routinely opt for a range of energy- and water-saving features and new-er technologies that increase the ease and comfort of pool ownership.

For starters, options for re-ducing chlorine use are avail-able. Because of their many benefits, healthier alternatives are increasingly popular.

One favorite is an ozone generator. By drastically re-ducing the demand for chlo-rine—a corrosive agent—and other costly, harsh pool chem-

icals, this highly effective tech-nology reduces red eyes, dry hair, dry irritated skin, and the bleach-like fumes common with chlorine use. At the same time, explains Grijalva, the sys-tem ensures a sparkling fresh swimming environment and water that’s remarkably clear and silky soft on the skin.

When it comes to keeping pool water sparkling, the filter also plays a key role. Today’s convenient cartridge models conserve water by eliminating the need for the water-robbing process known as backwash-ing.

Filter units with extra-large storage capacity also extend the time in between need-ed cleanings. Some even come with built-in antimicro-bial product protection to in-hibit the growth of unwanted microbes—so the filter stays fresher between cleanings.

Homeowners concerned about high electric rates are turning to energy-efficient pool cleaners. These units also help automate what was once a dreaded manual chore.

Choosing a two- or vari-able-speed pump is anoth-er way to save on utility bills. These models can cut pool en-ergy costs as much as 70 per-cent!

Homeowners are also tak-ing advantage of automation and remote controls to manage pool & spa operations. Options include handheld remote de-vices, as well as programs and apps for desktop computers, tablets, and smartphones.

New levels of innovation are also available with pool design features. For example, ener-gy-efficient LED lighting illumi-nates a pool and landscape in dazzling, changing colors.

Distinctive colors are also found in the materials used for the pool’s interior finish. Gleaming quartz aggregate outperforms old-fashioned plaster and creates a smooth, slip-resistant surface that re-sists deep stains. Best of all, quartz gives any pool added di-mension with lasting color that won’t fade.

More information on time- and money-saving pool tech-nology, as well as information on pool design and financing programs (oac), is available at bluehaven.com.
