Dato’ Capt Mohd Nawawi bin Awang Senior General Manager Flight Operations Following a five-year flying career with the Royal Malaysian Air Force, Dato’ Capt Mohd Nawawi bin Awang joined Malaysia Airlines in 1975. He has flown various types of aircraft, clocking more than 15,000 flying hours, and is currently rated on the B747-400. He has served as Vice-President, Flight Operations, since 1996 and was appointed to his current position in June 2001. He is a member of the UK Chartered Institute of Transport and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. Ong Jyh Jong joined Malaysia Airlines in 1984after graduating from the National University of Malaysia with a Bachelor of Social Science(Hons). He served in various capacities,including District Manager Phuket, ManagerSouth Australia, Sales Manager and GeneralManager, Cargo Sales, before leaving the Airlineto pursue other business ventures in 1996. He rejoined Malaysia Airlines in January 2001 and was instrumental in introducing freighterservices to the Airline. Marzida binti Mohd Noor was with KPMG as an ITManagement Consultant from 1989 to 1992,before she joined Malaysia Airlines as a BusinessInformation Controller. She received a number of promotions over the next few years and was the Programme Director for the Malaysia Airlines Year 2000 Project. She was seconded to TrifinitiNetworks Sdn Bhd as Co-Project Manager frommid-2000 to March 2001. She was appointedto her present position in June 2001. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Decision Sciences)from Indiana University, USA, and a Master ofScience in Management Information System fromthe United States International University, USA.

Dato’ Abdul Rashid Khan joined Malaysia Airlinesin 1972. He has served as Regional Manager in North America, Thailand, Germany andMalaysia. He subsequently served as GeneralManager, Sales before undertaking his currentposition as Senior General Manager, Sales,Distribution and Marketing effective 1 April2004. He is currently serving senior roles in the industry’s most prominent and influentialorganisations, including PATA, Aseanta, NationalTourism Committee and is Chairman of theBoard of Airline Representatives, Malaysia.

She is also aCertified Internal Auditor with the Institute ofInternal Auditors Inc, USA, and actively involvedin the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia as a member of its Professional PracticesCommittee. She served as the FinancialController for a Group of Companies thatincluded a public listed company, before joiningMalaysia Airlines in September 2001 as Head of the Internal Audit Department. She has over12 years of experience in accounting, auditingand consultancy.

Capt Ahmad Zuraidi bin DahalanGeneral ManagerCorporate Safety & Security

A graduate of the Royal Military College, CaptAhmad Zuraidi bin Dahalan joined MalaysiaAirlines in 1977 as a Cadet Pilot. He has flownvarious types of aircraft and is currently rated onthe B747-400. He has served as an instructor-pilot and examiner on the B737-400 and A330 and is a Boeing-certified instructor on the B777. He moved up the ranks in the Flight Operations Safety Department to become Chief Pilot (Flight Safety and HumanFactors), before being appointed to his currentposition in August 2003. He is a member of theInternational Society of Air Safety Investigatorsbased in Washington DC, USA, the InternationalAdvisory Committee of the Flight SafetyFoundation, the UK Flight Safety Committee and the Flight Operations Safety Working Group of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines.He also sits on the IATA Flight Operations Safety Committee.

Rizani bin Hassan began his career as a Legal Officer of a government statutory body after graduating from the MARA Institute of Technology in 1984 with a degree in Law.In 1991, he joined a private law firm as an advocate and solicitor. He was appointed Legal Corporate Counsel of Malaysia Airlines in 1994 and thereafter as General Counsel and Company Secretary in 2002. He is also Secretary to the Airline’s ManagementCommittee.
