There are videos ranging from the basics to more advanced topics, and are a good alternative to the on-campus Business Objects training. www.youtube.com -> search for Web Intelligence 3.1 www.youtube.com Recommended SAP author: RimGeurts Stick with the 3.1 tutorials we wont be going to 4.0 for a while. Caution: Not all videos are produced by the vendor, nor in English Feel free to contact data administration with your training questions Slide 5 Tips & FAQs Highlight From the FAQs & Tips page, a search for sort leads to the url listed above. The most efficient way to do this is with InfoView Interactive View mode, but it can be done in Webi too. How to Sort on multiple columns in Infoview and Webi http://www.upenn.edu/computing/da/bo/webi/qna/iv_orderBreaksSorts.html Slide 6 Tips & FAQs Highlight How to Sort on multiple columns in Infoview and Webi To create report sorts on multiple columns 1.Click the sort icon #2 from the toolbar or Right-click in a column that you want to sort by 2. Choose type of sort Ascending or Descending. 3. Notice that by default the sort priority is the same as the order that you created the sort. Slide 7 Tips & FAQs Highlight How to Sort on multiple columns in Infoview and Webi To view and change sort priorities 1.Select a column that has a sort and click on it. (Sort button #2 looks 'indented' when a column that has sorts is clicked.) 2. Either select the drop-down menu from the sort button #2 or right-click. 3.Select Properties, and the Sort Properties window appears. 4.Select the column you want to reposition and using the arrows move it up or down in the priority list. Slide 8 Tips & FAQs Highlight How to Sort on multiple columns in Infoview and Webi 5. Select the column you want to reposition and using the arrows move it up or down in the priority list. Slide 9 Questions about sorting on multiple columns? Slide 10 Tips & FAQs Highlight There are 3 ways to get to enrollment in courses and to course data in general; These are referred to as the AA, AB, and AC branches. Choose the branch based on your purpose for the enrollment data in that specific query/report. How to pick the correct enrollment branch in STDTCANQ http://www.upenn.edu/computing/da/dw/student/stdtcanq.html Slide 11 Tips & FAQs Highlight AC Branch: If youre just getting a list of everyone taking a course (or courses), and nothing else. Note in the diagram Enrollment joined directly to Person table. AB Branch: If you want people in a course AND you want to report on anything else happening that same term --- their majors, or their divisions/degree or dual degree status, their advisors, etc. The AB branch is the one used most often. Note in the diagram that to get from Enrollment to the Person table you must join through Degree Term and Degree Pursual. AA Branch: If youre reporting on people in a course but you only want to see the ones who are counting that course towards a specific degree or appearing on a specific transcript. (Uses the career pointers in SRS to determine the enrollment assignments.) Note in the diagram that to get from Enrollment to the Person table you must join through Assignment and Degree Pursual. How to pick the correct enrollment branch in STDTCANQ Slide 12 Questions about enrollment branches? Slide 13 Slide 14 Inventory subgroups Slide 15 SRS online help says: SRS uses this value to group courses in the Course Register in an order other than the subject area. The codes appear on screen 125; the values appear on screens 1D2 and 1D3: In the warehouse, the subgroup text will be in the Course_Inventory table: COURSE_IDSUBGROUP_1_TITLESUBGROUP_2_TITLE EDUC241Undergraduate CoursesGeneral Education/Undergraduate Courses Slide 16 Questions about subgroups? Slide 17 New exit_action: D1 In SRS, it looks like a drop, but In the Data Warehouse, it looks like a Leave of Absence The corresponding entry_action is R1 Slide 18 An exit_action of D1 is a First Drop. It is used as an intermediate probationary action: more serious than a mandatory leave, but not as serious as dropped by division Slide 19 The return from a D1 should be an R1 Slide 20 In SRS, a student who exits with a D1 will have Dropped and the date placed on their transcript. But in the Data Warehouse, this person will look like a Leave of Absence. The leave flags will be set on all of the relevant tables (degree_pursual_all_v, degree_term_all_v, major_minor_term), and a row will be inserted into the Leave table. Slide 21 A student who is returned from a D1 exit should be returned using the R1 entry action. In the Data Warehouse, the leave flags will be cleared out in the appropriate places, just like any other leave of absence, and the Leave table updated. (note: the only place you will see R1 in the warehouse is in the Student_APS table.) Slide 22 Questions about D1 or R1? Slide 23 Cross-division majors In the Approved_Academic_Programs table, youll see cross-division majors appearing like this: Note that you can no longer tell from this table that the BCHE major is administered by Arts and Sciences. In other words, this table tells you what students are allowed to major in; it does not tell you the administrative relationships between majors, divisions and schools. This is their only purpose, and although you may see some entries for NAS and NEG in the Approved_Academic_Programs table, students should not be matriculated into those degrees on screen 110 (and you should not see these in Degree_Pursual). Slide 25 Questions/discussion about cross-division majors? Slide 26 New administrative structure in Arts and Sciences Slide 27 Any other news anyone else would like to share?
