Scorching with service and spirit, Ailina Heng

Lieutenant Governor

Hello all you wonderful, Phoenixes! What a crazy

month November was! I really hope you all had a great

month with Key Club Week, Fall Rally, and enjoying

some time with your families. Speaking of Fall Rally, I

just want to say that spirit stick or not, I'm extremely

proud of each and every one of you, and I'm so honored to have the oppor-

tunity to serve such a fiery and tremendous division! I really hope you

enjoyed your time at Fall Rally because the purpose of Fall Rally is to

raise money for PTP, but it's also to celebrate the wonderful service you

all have done. I can definitely say that I enjoyed my last Fall Rally, and I

really hope you all were able to enjoy it with great memories as well.

However, keep in mind that Key Club doesn't stop now, and service espe-

cially doesn't stop! We're approaching the holiday season which is one of

the best times of the year to volunteer and serve. There are so many indi-

viduals and families out there who can use our help, so keep the service

and spirit high and let's go make it a wonderful holiday season, not just

for us, but for everyone in our community! Have a happy holidays, Phoe-

nixes! Keep up the service, holiday spirit, and Key Club spirit because

we're Phoenixes! Burnin' up the skies, service never dies!

FALL RALLY SOUTH

D28W LTG Johansen Pico show

off his spirit after winning Fall Rally

spirit rally! Congratulations!

Tommy Gonzales, A-Tech

Fall Rally for the first time was l Rally for the first time, best thing

ever! I am a freshman at A-Tech, and with my latest experienc-

es in being an active Key Club member, I was able to achieve

many things! I have accomplished at least 40 hours and more

hours to come! I went to Fall Rally for the first time, it was my first

time at Six Flags too, so I asked my upperclassmen what we

were going to be doing. The first thing we did was to head to

the Golden Bear Theater for the first Fall Rally event. I was hap-

py to see how much cheerful Key Club members there was

and the multiple divisions, which I had already acknowledged,

but yet there were over 60 members was from each division.

They all had spirit just like us phoenixes! As soon as the event

begun, I put my spirit face on and started to cheer my little Key

Club heart out! I was loud and proud to be a phoenix. After the

remaining of the day, I was little bit sad, the spirit rally was short!

I wanted to show more spirit! I didn't go on much of the rides,

but I met new people and more phoenixes! At the picnic, I met

some of my old friends that used to go to my middle school!

They were upperclassmen of course! Also, I got to see my LTG,

Ailina Heng. For the remainder of the day, I just had fun. I didn't

anything except for an awesome D28N Lanyard, which has a

cute phoenix on it! Fall Rally will be remembered as the most

coolest Key Club experience I had, and for my next years at A-

Tech, I will continue to attend Key Club, get more hours, and

attend Fall Rally, for the Spirit Rally and to see my fellow lovely

phoenixes!

October was a very busy month for our club! We started off the month by having our members volunteer at Legacy's annu-

al open house by helping guide the parents. We also provided our members with several different individual service pro-

jects to do like volunteering at Vegas CineFest by registering guests, taking pictures, decorating, backstage hospitality,

hosting the information booth, and all around helping! Members also volunteered to help set up for the magical forest by

painting, hanging garlands, moving props, and much more! We also have members registering to help out at the haunted

harvest by running some of the games and activities! Lastly, our members helped raise awareness by walking and support-

ing Alzheimer's and making a donation. From October 22nd-29th our club sold Halloween grams during lunch for one dollar

as a fundraiser to benefit our club. Members also had the opportunity to earn some service hours by volunteering to sell

grams during lunch! October means the month of Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF and our club has done a fantastic job as to

collecting $303.71 dollars and still counting, which means we have exceeded our goal! We have also had members dress

up in the UNICEF box during lunch to collect money and earn service hours at the same time! This month we've also con-

tinued collecting pop tops from the members to support the Ronald McDonald House. On October 25th, our club held a

Halloween social where students came together to bond, play games, sing karoke and enjoy some food! On the 16th we

had two of our members attend the DCM and they were sure to come back with plenty of information to share to the rest

of the officers and members! This month, our officers are looking upon members who want the opportunity to run for class

representative! We are excited to see the final outcome, as we are assured they will be wonderful leaders that will dutifully

represent their class. With all that is going on this month, our club also had to prepare for RTC! We held cheer practice eve-

ryday after meetings and at the Aliante Park on October! We chose this day because that is also National World Wide Day

of Play and our officers thought it would be the perfect opportunity play sports and provide an opportunity for members to

interact amongst each other! Lastly, and most importantly, RTC was this month! Although our club did not make it to the

spirit rally this year, we still had a ton of fun! For many of our members it was their first RTC or division event and so they ben-

efited a lot from the workshops and simply interacting with other Key Club members! Overall, this month was very success-

ful as it was filled with many service opportunities, tremendous spirit, and great bonding within the club.

What a crazy month this October has been! We started the month in full homecoming mode. We made a float for the

parade, which was appropriately themed "Key to the City" since the homecoming theme was Road Trip and we just

had to add a little Key Club spirit to it. Also for the homecoming game, we face painted the crazy spirited kids of Arbor

View. As expected the spirit was off the charts that night; there was a lot of business. The following day was Homecom-

ing Movie Night, put on by the student council where we sold ice pops to all the movie goers who showed up to watch

the movie projected on the soccer field. This month we had another Staff Development day which of course meant

babysitting. We offer a sitting service for all the teachers at school who have no where for there kids to go since the kids

have school off and they don't. The kids are adorable and love to play games, color on the white board, and watch

movies. It is also pretty cute seeing our favorite teachers with their little kids. We also had second varsity home game this

month, which we face painted at as well. Then came Halloween time. We had several different festivals for our mem-

bers to volunteer at and we had a number of members go to each. These included festivals at Betsy Rhodes Elementary,

Mountain View Luthern, and the Springs Preserve. Our last event of the month was selling of Boo Grams the last week

and a half leading up to Halloween. Boo Grams are Halloween candy grams that students can send to their friends for

Halloween. We distributed them today on Halloween and it was super cute when someone recieved an anonymous

one! RTC was also this month. It was super amazing to see all our new members experience who crazy it can get when

so many Key Clubs come together. Also in the spirit of Halloween, we also had a social this month where members

brought in Halloween treats, talked, and watched Hocus Pocus together. Sometimes nothing is better than just spend-

ing time with your fellow Key Clubbers!

Key Club Experience

Alyana Dancel, Las Vegas Academy

Hey Key Club! I’m a sophomore at LVA and this is about my expe-

rience as a Key Club member. This is actually my first year in Key

Club and all I can say is that this club is now my new home. Key

Club is the place where I was able to step out of my comfort zone.

I became more sociable as I made new friends that accepted

me for who I am. I knew from day one that this is the perfect club

for me because I loved helping others. My first RTC was absolutely

amazing too. I was so amazed by how many members Key Club

has, with their passion and the effect they put into everything.

And of course, Fall Rally… it is BY FAR the highlight of my year. It

felt great to see all these schools from the Nevada, California, and

Hawaii all get together. They were all so friendly and spirited! I am

now looking forward towards DCON and meeting all the wonder-

ful people out there.

Why Key Club? My name is… It’s Key Club itself!

Warm Blankets

Rosalyn Ngo

As our Key Club consistently provides service towards our

community, time is just speeding by. Winter is just around the

corner, so why not help others for the season? On November

14, 2012, my Key Club got together and created beautiful,

warm blankets for children who need them. I thought it was

very fun because I got to spend some time with Key Club fam-

ily. Additionally, this opportunity was really heart-warming. I

thought about how the children would feel and seeing ear-to-

ear smiles when they receive them. That is why I strive and

make a difference towards the community. I'm thankful to

have participated in this service project.

Campus Cleanup

Angelene Diego, Legacy

Legacy decided to switch up Key Club Week. We had 'Bring a Friend to Key Club' and 'Service Your Way' Day

both on Thursday to fit our meeting. We had a pretty large turnout during the meeting and enthusiasm was

pretty high! Our Key Club teamed up with other clubs at Legacy such as DECA, Pep Club, NHS, StuCo, and

BSU for a campus cleanup. It was a very productive 45 minutes. Everyone split into small groups for a little

friendly competition. Our Advisor decided to reward a gift card to In-N-Out to the group with the most trash.

Once the word was out, you could see all the groups hustling to find more trash! All together, we collected

almost 40 bags of trash and weeds. One group even picked up a chair! It was surprising to see how much

trash we picked up in 45 minutes. Besides the reward it was a great experience for everyone who participated.

It was rivalry that made 'Service Your Way Day' so fun.

Key To College

Numfon Vilay, Rancho

Key to College was very interesting and informative. The information about college was helpful,

especially since I am a Junior in high school. Some things I learned from the Circle K members

was that college is stressful, but it has its perks. All of the members discussed their life as a college

student and I honestly found listening to their experiences to be worthwhile. They gave me the

motivation to keep working hard in high school and aim for a college or university that best suits

me. Truthfully, UNLV isn't a school that I've really thought about going to, but Key to College has

somewhat changed my mind. As we were going on the tour around the school, I actually found

myself liking the campus. Not only is the campus nice, but also the people I met there. This was

my first time going to Key to College and I would recommend people to go next year too. This

experience was great and I learned many useful things I can use for future reference. Thank you

Circle K members for being amazing hosts and having Key Club as your guest.

For the past few months Wardell has gone above and beyond as a member. He never fails

to show is love for Key Club in or out of school. This past month Wardell has bombarded me

with questions about what he can do to become more involved, as well as questions about

running for the position of president and LtG, I'm proud of him and support him in all of his ef-

forts. He's also helped me find events, icebreakers, and fundraising ideas and always gives

valid input during meetings and performs amazingly at service events. I nominate Wardell

because of his passion and love for Key Club. He's put in a lot of work this past month and I

honestly believe that he deserves it!
