Page 4: Curriculum Evening

Children should be in school every day unless they are ill.

Appointments to outside agencies should be made for after school times where possible.

The school cannot give permission to parents to take children out of school for holidays.

A note of explanation must be given to teachers detailing reason for absence.

You can fill in one of the slips at the back of the Homework Journal.

Please make sure that your child has a drink each day. An additional drink may be required on PE days or if he/she is attending an after school club.

Sometimes children find it difficult to finish one large yogurt, maybe send two small pots instead.

Treat day is on a Friday. We advise the children to eat their lunch first before they eat their treat. A treat should be a small item such as a bar or slice of cake.

The Oxford Reading Tree Scheme is available to all children. When reading the books the emphasis is not only on the child’s ability to read the words, but also on being able to comprehend what has happened in the story. An emphasis on punctuation and expression should be encouraged when reading.

As a supplementary reader children are encouraged to take a class library book home.

In class we will be reading novels both in groups and as a whole class.
