TWMS 600 + volunteers potential for growth depending upon funding and support.

Help long term unemployed from disadvantaged communities via employment opportunities – apprenticeships and volunteering.

Sage Young People who show interest in business development referred to Generator.

Extensive outreach programme works with disadvantaged young people offering apprenticeships and a mentoring programme.

East Durham Creates

Has provided short term volunteer and work placement opportunities.

Aim is to provide arts opportunities in disadvantaged communities. Easington/ Seaham East Durham.

Beamish Museum Provides placements and 100’s volunteer opportunities.

Provides apprenticeships & work placements planning to provide many more in planned expansion.

ISIS Provides placements and internships primarily via Universities.

Recently worked in Newcastle West End with Slovakian Roma community and schools.

Baltic Provides Work Placements and Internships

Visual Arts outreach programme primarily Gateshead.

The Forge Has offered unstructured volunteers opportunities

Works with Young People accredited education programmes in schools and Young Offenders institutions.

Customs House Provides Work Placements and Internships primarily via Universities.

In consortia with other organisations in South Tyneside to provide apprenticeships.

Cultural Spring Has provided short term volunteering opportunities

Works across 10 wards most disadvantaged.

Durham Creatives Specialised cultural business support service, about generating and accessing opportunities as well as providing support

Some of their activity supports disadvantaged beneficiaries – scope to build on this aspect more

Generator Support for musical businesses is core business, linked to wider digital media support offer

Do smaller-scale activity engaging NEETs in disadvantaged areas – when and where funding allows

BAIT Provide active artist development via Creative Connectors, part of Creative Skills Development role

Engaging large numbers of people – especially young people – in disadvantaged area of Northumberland

Northern Film & Media

Currently provide business development support for film & TV professionals

Not a significant area for NFM to date

Agency Business/ Artist Development Inclusion through Culture

Headway Arts Not done this to date, but might want to do so, especially linked to proposed arts hub in Blyth

Core business is focused on participatory arts for disadvantaged groups, especially learning disabled people and SEN groups

NGI Run business creation and support programme, mainly linked to events

Engage large numbers through volunteering and training around events

Newcastle City Council

Interested in supporting this activity, perhaps as lead partner. Potential link to workspace offer.

Supportive but not directly active.

South Tyneside Interested in potential to provide support to cultural businesses – especially authors – as part of the proposed ‘Word’ development.

Part of a partnership successfully engaging young people using CEP. Interested in continuing this.
