Welcome to our annual production sale! Thank you to our repeat customers for your confidence in our program and we would like to extend a big welcome to any new customers that will be joining us.

What a year it has been! In fact, we have experienced some of the best cattle prices in history and have been fortunate enough to have the grass to feed them. Mother nature continues to reward us with a very mild winter. It would sure be nice if every winter was like this!

As we have done in the past, we will continue to provide both performance and carcass information to make your purchase decisions. We are using this information to select our replacement females. In addition to that, we will continue to provide the Residual Feed Intake marker from Igenity®. In our opinion, other than EPD’s, Feed Efficiency may be the single most important trait that commercial cattlemen use to select bulls; especially when corn prices continue to hang around the $6 mark. Since we do not have any other way to measure this trait, we will provide you this information through DNA.

All of the bulls will have a semen evaluation prior to the sale. If any bulls require a retest, we will make that announcement on sale day.

For those of you unable to make our sale, we do offer you the opportunity to purchase online at www.DVAuction.com. If you plan to use this service, be sure to register early.

If you elect to purchase bulls sight unseen and they are not as we represent them, we will guarantee your purchase if you are not satisfied with your bull(s). If you are more than 75 miles away and you do not want to bring your trailer to the sale, we will make arrangements to get your purchases delivered shortly after the sale. Thanks again for your confidence in our program. Give us a call if you have any questions regarding our program or the bulls.

Sincerely,

Rob, Bill & Louis Arnold

This bull is siring some exceptional cattle. He is a full brother to u82 that we showed in Denver who was named the 2009 Reserve Champion in the Winter Calf Division. I felt this calf was even better but due to a few ring worm issues we couldn’t get him to Denver that year. He ranks very high in calving ease and he is going to sire very structurally correct cattle.

A product of our ET program that we sold to the SE Community College in our 2010 sale. I felt he was potentially the best buddy boy calf we had that year and we used him on a number of cows. His dam (TJb lady Granite 838H ET) is a cow that I really appreciate. She is owned by bob Hart who purchased her from TJb Gelbvieh in their dispersal sale for $16000. This bull sires calves that excel in performance.

Here is one of the first Northern Pacific calves. It is the only one in this sale. Really a good structured individual. Nice big square hip, wide top, good bone. Northern Pacific was the top RFI bull in the 2010 Eagle Pass sale. This calf’s mom was purchased in the 2010 National Sale …she is really producing some fantastic offspring. He scanned a 15.08 for REA.

Martin gelbvieh Purebred bullsdear Cattlemen,First of all i would send out a thank you to the crew at Cranview gelbvieh for letting us tag along in their annual genetic Progress sale. and a second thank you to you, the customers. We couldn’t do what we do without you! As we get other seed stock producer’s catalogs in the mail, we find that many mention the way the beef industry is today. Great! What a time to be in the business! Well, I have to agree. A warm, mild winter coupled with the price of cattle, it has been an unbelievable year.

I believe the set of bulls in this year’s offering will help you capitalize on the tremendous high prices by bringing you extra pounds of beef come weaning and sale day. but keeping calving ease, eye appeal and maternal value in a cattle operation. if you have any questions about our bulls or program feel free to contact us or check out our website at www.martingelbvieh.com.

sincerely,The Martin Gelbvieh Family

As we continue to develop our Gelbvieh cattle, we strive to build cattle with eye appeal and with economic traits (Feed Efficiency, calving ease, performance, sound feet,

polled genetics) important to the commercial cattleman.

We strive to have cattle that excel in structural correctness, performance, fertility and maternal traits. Maternal traits are going to vary depending on geographics, but, it is

important to us in maintaining a balance as this is what Gelbvieh cattle are well known for.

We believe Feed Efficiency is a trait that will separate the most productive ranchers from the norm. In analyzing the data, there is too much to gain or lose when evaluating this trait.

Therefore, we are taking several steps to evaluate and incorporate the most efficient blood lines into our program.

Our program includes AI, embryo transplant, and natural service to build on these important traits. Our ET program includes donors in our own herd as well as well-known

matriarch donors from other Gelbvieh producers. Most of our replacement females originate from our AI and ET programs.

This is the youngest bull in the sale. He is also the only PB Angus bull I have in the sale. Normally I would not have kept a calf this young but he is put together pretty darn good. If there are any buyers looking to breed some heifers, here is a heifer bull deluxe. He also has a great disposition to boot. We are putting together a small group of premium Angus cows strictly for calving ease bulls...look for these in the future. He scanned a 15.37 REA and a 5.01 IMF (#1 IMF in the sale).

Definitely a herd bull prospect here. His EPD’s are very desirable, his structure is really good, he moves very freely, he is thick, and he is wide topped. Where can you find a bull with this phenotype and the EPD package to go with it. He scanned a 16.04 for REA and a .06 for marbling. He is out of the EGL Tiara T003 cow that we purchased for $18,000 from Eagle Pass in the 2010 National Sale. We will collect and use this bull in our AI & ET program. If I would have got him weaned a little earlier, we could have got him to Denver! I am looking to sell a full ½ interest in this calf. I would like to use this calf in our program and then bring him in to get ready for Denver in 2013 with the new owner taking possession of him after that for the 2013 season then alternating each year after that. Study him carefully…I think he will be an asset to our breed.
