Material Health

Based on the assessment of the product‘s components & ingredients for impact to human and environmental health, the product meets the requirements for at the Silver level in the Material Health category. See the table below for a summary of the Material Health assessments for each of the product‘s components. Construction Specialties has developed a plan to replace the problematic ingredients by working with suppliers to reduce and eventually eliminate ingredients of concern. See Appendix A for Construction Specialties, Inc‘s strategy for replacing problematic components. For any GREY assessed components, full data will need to be received within six months or these materials will be considered RED and recommended for phase-out.

Stainless steel pop rivets

B Contains small amounts of moderately problematic ingredients in the steel alloy but is acceptable for use. Can be recycled with similar grades of stainless steel or with general purpose steel.

EPDM 1‘ cushions, G1

C Contains small amounts of moderately problematic ingredients but is acceptable for use. Recycling can be a challenge here due to the thermoset nature of the material. This is typically downcycled.

Rail Carrier* C Contains small amounts of moderately problematic ingredients but it acceptable for use.

EPDM continuous cushion, M2

C Contains small amounts of moderately problematic ingredients but is acceptable for use. Recycling can be a challenge here due to the thermoset nature of the material. This is typically downcycled.
