His travels took him to eight different countries where he helped breeders prepare their cattle to show. Curtis was the first person to be Champion show person at the TD Classic 4-H Dairy Classic and the President’s Cup at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in the same year. Having competed and succeeded at the highest level in 4-H, Curtis has used these experiences to help 4-H members in his area as a 4-H leader and serving on many committees. Lee Morey - Clipping Judge Lee Morey owns and operates Unique Valleystream Genetics alongside his parents Dave & Tracy and sister, Casey. The herd is Canada’s largest purebred Jersey herd and shows top end genetics across Canada and the United States. A 12 year 4-H member, Lee always enjoyed working with cattle, showing and fitting. The Western Canadian Classic Junior Dairy Show was started by a group of volunteers from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The first committee consisted of Bruno Giacomazzi, Gordon Rendle, John Blair, Carol
Wright, Dwayne Congdon, Don Chalack, Larry Brack, Dale Strudwick, Glenn Gurr and Desmond Donohoe. The committee designed a concept of hosting a competitive show dashed with social functions to promote friendly interaction between participants for all four provinces. A set of objectives was established and these have been met over and over again each year. ∞ To provide a learning experience for our dairy youth ∞ An opportunity for friendly competition ∞ To stimulate friendships amongst Western Canadian young dairy enthusiasts ∞ An opportunity for agri-business to participate in our youth today ∞ An opportunity for your youth to learn from agri-business ∞ To promote the dairy industry to the public ∞ To help maintain or stimulate interest in agricultureThe first WCC was held in 1985 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The show consisted of three showmanship classes, three conformation classes, judging and pedigree competitions, best of three class, and stall competition. Over the years the Classic has grown and matured and now consists of; three showmanship classes, five conformation classes, judging and pedigree competitions, a dairy science quiz which involves general dairy anatomy and nutrition questions, Best of Three class, Stall Competition, Clipping Competition, Highest Overall Individual and the coveted Premier Province Award.
