Their driving question was: “How can we, as students, use our knowledge of earth materials to observe and describe rocks by size, texture, and color in order to make our school community more attractive?” Students created a model rock garden that the school could use to beautify the entrance of RBE. They used their knowledge of rock sizes, shapes, textures, and colors to create their model. February Tech/PBL Teacher
Mr. Gabriel Perez, Life Skills teacher at Newman Middle School, was also selected as the
February Tech/PBL Teacher for his PBL titled, “Bill of Rights.” The driving question was: “How
do we, as LIFE SKILLS students, learn, comprehend and reteach for retention, the first Ten
Amendments of the Bill of Rights.”
Mr Perez taught his students the Bill of Rights through hand signs. Each hand sign entailed a
visual that would help the student remember each amendment. Students also made posters to
help them comprehend the vocabulary of the amendments.
Students then presented the hand signs and posters to show proof of comprehension and re-
tention of what they had learned.
