Ethanol Is Good ForAmerica

(NAPSI)—How much you payat the pump, how much wecan avoid pollution and combatclimate change, and how ef-fectively we can stand up toother countries can all dependon whether the governmentcontinues a policy thatʼs beencalled an unmitigated success. The Renewable Fuel Standard

(RFS) has reduced the United States dependence on importedpetroleum, lowered gasoline prices, created jobs and economicopportunity across America, and reduced greenhouse gas emis-sions.A Stronger, More Energy Independent NationA recent surge in ethanol production has reduced gasoline im-ports from 600,000 barrels per day a decade ago to near zerotoday. Looked at another way, the ethanol produced in 2013 dis-placed an amount of gasoline refined from 462 million barrels ofimported crude oil. Thatʼs roughly equivalent to the amount ofcrude oil imported annually from Venezuela and Iraq combined.Lower Gas PricesEthanol is the lowest cost transportation fuel in the world. Today,it is selling for approximately 90 cents less than gasoline whole-sale. At the national level, that not only means ethanol is bringingdown the cost of gas per gallon, it is stretching our national fuelsupply. Philip K. Verleger, a renowned energy economist, foundethanol saved consumers $0.50 to $1.50 per gallon in 2012-2013. A savings of $1.00 on average which adds up to an annualsavings of approximately $1,200 per family.Helping the EconomyThe Renewable Fuels Standard encourages investment and in-novation in the biofuels industry. As the next generation ofethanol refineries is built, the industry will bring its job-creating,revenue-generating benefits to states across this nation, not justthe traditional Midwestern Corn Belt. The ethanol industry cur-rently supports:• 86,504 direct jobs• 300,277 indirect and induced jobs• $44 billion contribution to GDP• $30.7 billion in household income.Cleaner AirThe use of ethanol in gasoline in 2013 reduced CO2-equivalentgreenhouse gas emissions from transportation by 37.9 millionmetric tons—equivalent to removing 7.9 million cars from theroad for an entire year. What Others Are DoingMany Americans are writing or calling their members of Congressto voice their support of the Renewable Fuels Standard. How to Learn MoreTo learn about the many benefits of ethanol and the RenewableFuels Standard, visit www.EthanolRFA.org.

Calming Cats And Dogsby Denise Eaton

(NAPSI)—With road trips, fire-works and thunderstorms, sum-mer can be a tough time forsome pets. Fortunately, thereare several steps you can taketo ease your animalʼs stress, whether at home or on the road• First, provide a comforting, lov-ing environment for your pet.• Next, according to the expertsat the ASPCA, when you travel, you should use a well-ventilatedcrate or carrier that is largeenough for your pet to movearound in. Have him or herspend some time in the cratebefore the trip.• Make frequent stops in parksand other green spaces so youand your pet can stretch yourlegs.• Remember to pack a bag foryour pet, too, including food, water, bowls, leash, plastic bagsand grooming supplies. Donʼtforget that favorite toy or pillow.• If your pet still shows signs ofstress, veterinarian-recom-mended drops formulated tohelp with a wide range of petproblems—including anxiousbehaviors from travel, changesin routine and fear of loudnoises—can help. Four drops ofRESCUE Remedy® Pet* in thefood or water bowl, on a treat orfavorite chew toy can help easepet stress naturally.Learn MoreFor further information, call(800) 319-9151 or you can visitwww.RescueRemedy.com/pets.
