USE CASES

7

Page 8: Core Public Event Vocabulary - Joinup collaboration platform · 2018-02-09 · • LODE: An ontology for Linking Open Descriptions of Events Event definition: "Something that happened,"

POSSIBLE USE CASES?

• Embedded semantics (e.g. microdata, RDFa, JSON-LD) to improve the way a website is represented in search

engine results

Adding metadata to websites increases the visibility of events in search engines

• Information exchange between e-government systems or data portals

Published events can easily be reused and distributed by third parties

Page 9: Core Public Event Vocabulary - Joinup collaboration platform · 2018-02-09 · • LODE: An ontology for Linking Open Descriptions of Events Event definition: "Something that happened,"

POSSIBLE USE CASES?

• Finding related public events

Events that have the same target audience can be retrieved

• Planning a public event

Avoid overlap with other popular events

Avoid several public events targeting the same audience in a short timespan

• Find a good location to host an event

Retrieve similar events to plan back-to-back. E.g., a conference following a workshop on the same subject.

• Any others?
