FAITHFUL NAVIGATOR’S MESSAGE – MAY 2016 “Together we could be an enormous force for good in a world that so obviously needs the love of God and love of neighbor, which are reflected in our work.” Carl A. Anderson, Supreme Knight
Worthy Brother Sir Knights,
As Columbian Year 2015-16 winds down we have a couple very important events planned. First and foremost are nominations for the 2016-17 Columbian Year Mother Lode Assembly Officers. Our Trustees have drafted a slate that includes some new faces, veteran officers moving though the positions, and those serving current key positions. This ensures continuity and growth of our Assembly. If any Sir Knight in good standing wishes to volunteer for a position, please contact SK Chuck Robertson, Trustee or any of the other Trustees.
The flier will be out today announcing the Sir Knights Welcome Dinner (Saturday, June 11). The menu and pricing is set. The catered dinner will consist of: Sugar Brined, Hand-rubbed (with homemade chicken rub) oven-roasted ½ Chicken, Rice Pilaf w/roasted peppers, Baby-Green Salad, Dinner rolls and dessert. The cost is $16.00 per person. But free to new Sir Knights & Lady Knights. RSVP with SK Ricco Ches NLT June 7, 2016.
Sir Knight Joe Diaz has shown me a draft NFL Sunday Night Football Fund Raiser. It is structured the same as last year. The Assembly will NET $1,500.00. It will be presented for discussion at the May 17, 2016 MLA Meeting in Auburn.
The Officer Installation Ceremony and Dinner (Saturday, July 23, 2016), will be catered and held at St. Joseph Parish Hall in Auburn. We will be joined by Centennial Assembly and Grass Valley Assembly. The date has been approved by the District Master and coordinated with District Marshall Tim Fukuda for Color Corps Certification prior to the 5:00 pm Mass, Installation and Dinner. The menu and price has been set at $25.00 per person. Menu: Roasted Pork Loin Stuffed w/wild rice & plums, served w/gravy; and Roasted Hickory Smoked Chicken Quarters; Iceberg Wedge Salad with cherry-tomatoes, Vegetables in garlic butter sauce, Dinner rolls, and Peach Dump Cake for dessert. RSVP with SK Ricco Ches
Remember, your Assembly Officers are here to serve YOU. Your input is very important.

On April 21, 2016, our Worthy District Marshall requested Color Corps for Father Patrick Lee’s Funeral Mass at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. As Color Corps Commander I requested anyone available to attend. I was the only one from our Assembly to attend. On May 1, 2016, our Color Corps was invited to participate in the Annual Holy Ghost Portuguese Festa and Coronation of the Queens at St. Joseph’s in Lincoln. Three members participated in the Mass and then in the parade through the streets of Lincoln. Brothers Charlie DeLos Santos, Michael Meredith and myself participated. The Portuguese Holy Spirit Association of Lincoln appreciated our participation and thanked us with a check for $150. The next call-out will be at St. Joseph’s in Lincoln for Confirmation at the 5:00PM Mass celebrated by Bishop Weigand. I am hopeful that our Assembly can have a good showing of Color Corps members at this celebration. The Color Corps will practice every month one hour prior to the meeting. Color Corps members that can participate, please bring your sword, baldric and chapeau. The next practice will be conducted by SK Tom Epperson, as I will be out of state. We have four (4) red capes, one (1) white cape, two (2) swords, four (4) chapeaus and one (1) pair of shoes available to loan to any member wishing to become a Color Corps member. We also have enough funds to advance to any member wishing to become a Color Corps member to purchase his own equipment to be repaid to the MLA over the next year or two. NORM CHAVEZ, Color Corps Commander, MLA
