Clay art is in our blood. Human beings have been associ-ated with clay art throughout our evolution - from pre-history to modern times. We love playing in the mud!Join professional artist Clarence Betleyoun in this enjoy-able, hands-on course of sculpting with air-dried clay!Step-by-step instructions will guide you through theprocess of creating an individual significant object to afinished product. Watercolor Painting

She says anybody can do it, so now’s your chance toprove her right! No art background is necessary, andbeginners and advanced students can join Norma JeanTrammel in this relaxed and enjoyable class thatexplores the techniques and applications of watercolorpainting. You’ll work with soft, beautiful colors whileinstruction is presented in a step-by-step process. Youwill receive individual attention that will allow for per-sonal growth and expression. You will need to bring toclass (1) a plastic water container, (2) paper towels,(3) a pencil, (4) a ruler and (5) a small notebook towrite notes. In addition, you will need to bring $45 tothe instructor for the supply kit containing paints,paper, brushes, transfer paper and a spray bottle, all ofwhich are yours to keep. This class will fill quickly soregister early.

Drawing 101

Replace the hum-drum classroom with a unique oppor-tunity to brush up on your drawing skills. Each day willbe filled with basic instructions and illustrations fromthe instructor, and then you will sketch specific assign-ments. You’ll have ample one-on-one oversight from theinstructor and critique by the class. Over the period ofthe course, you will learn such basics as observation(see and draw); creating a simple grid; mapping andsubdividing the grid; enlargement and reduction; basicshapes and spaces; lines and measurements; tone andvalue; contrast; effects of light and shadow; texture;volume; angles; alignment and more. Each class isintended to move you from casual doodles to art worthyof framing. And yes, there will be homework! Previousdrawing experience is not required. Artistic curiosityand enjoyment are mandatory! Bring a sack lunch toeach class because we’ll keep working! Register beforeFeb. 15 to allow time for purchasing the necessary sup-plies.

For teenagers,cars are still the leading cause of death. “Death by driving” is the thirdhighest preventable cause of death. The triple threat of high speeds,impaired or careless driving and not using occupant restraints threatensevery driver, regardless of how careful or how skilled. Driving defensivelymeans not only taking responsibility for yourself and your actions, but alsokeeping an eye on "the other guy." GC is proud to be your partner in striv-ing to prevent automobile accidents. In addition, you can save money onyour auto insurance (or, parents can save money on your teenager’s insur-ance!) by successfully completing this National Safety Council DefensiveDriving course. Georgia Senate Bill 433 requires insurance companies inGeorgia to give families with good driving experience a 10% discount onportions of their auto insurance upon completion of this course. Eligibility

for the discount will continue for three years, provided that no driver com-mits a moving traffic offense or has a claim against the policy based on anat-fault accident. GC Community Dance ProgramThe Department of Theatre and Dance offers a complete pro-gram of dance instruction for children and adults throughoutthe year. This is an ongoing dance program which meets on amonthly basis culminating with the Spring Dance Concert onSunday, May 19. The program is directed by Amelia Pelton,who holds both B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees in dance. Otherinstructors are Georgia College graduates and dance minorstudents Jessica Joiner, Corinne Przedpelski, Morgan Henry,Jessica Holder, Leah Keelan and Gabby DePhillips. The Joy of Music – Private Music and Voice LessonsIt’s time to put a smile on your face and a song in your heart through the Joy ofMusic! Dust off those piano keys, rescue your old guitar from the attic or get readyto strengthen your vocals. You’re never too young – or to old – to take private les-sons. Ability level does not matter; you will be amazed at how much you’ll improvein just a few weeks.

Designed especially for children ages 4 through 11 – but with parents in mind(parents, keep reading and you’ll see why!) – Creative Kids’ University is an excit-ing Saturday night activity that will bring out the creativity in your child! On thesecond Saturday of each month, Chappell Hall will become a children’s paradisefeaturing age appropriate activities, including dance, recreation, karaoke, cookingand other exciting activities. And parents, we have not forgotten you. CreativeKids’ University is held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, allowing you a free night torun errands, a date night or simply a quiet evening to yourself. Statistics show that over 300,000 Americansdie of SCA every year. Up to 50,000 of these deaths could have been preventedif someone on the scene had initiated the Cardiac Chain of Survival and anautomated external defibrillator (AED) had been available for immediate useat the time of the emergency. This OSHA approved Red Cross course gives you,whether at home or in the workplace, the knowledge and skills necessary torecognize and care for injuries and sudden illnesses. Real Estate Sales Pre-licenseThis is an intensive 75-hour entry-level course for those interested in real estatesales information, either as a career venture or for general use. The course isapproved by the Georgia Real Estate Commission as meeting the educationalrequirements for taking the state licensing examination. You must be at least 18years of age, have received a high school diploma or the equivalent, be a residentof the State of Georgia unless seeking a nonresident license and must pass a GBIbackground check. You must be in attendance for the entire 75 hours, successful-ly complete all assignments, and attain a grade of at least 75 percent on a com-prehensive final examination in order to receive a qualifying certificate to sit forthe state exam. In addition, to sit for the state exam, the Georgia “IllegalImmigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011” requires all applicants forReal Estate licensure to submit verification documents to the Georgia RealEstate Commission verifying the applicant’s lawful presence in the United Statesas required in O.C.G.A. §50-36-1. The registration fee includes all textbooks andcourse testing materials required for the course. You will need to bring a realestate calculator to class. The registration fee does not include any fees for statelicensing. This course is approved for VA benefits. The registration deadline isJan. 25.

Program OverviewThe Pharmacy Technician Online Certification Training Program wasdeveloped in response to a rising need for trained technicians to work inhospital or retail pharmacies. With this growing opportunity, however, hasalso come increased responsibility, and this increased responsibility has madecertification an important issue for many industry employers and some statelegislatures.

This program will prepare you for entry-level pharmacy technician positions byteaching you medical and pharmaceutical terminology, basic anatomy related to thepharmacology of medications and pharmaceutical calculations. The PharmacyTechnician Program will give you hands-on practice in retail pharmacy proceduresthrough an online lab module. You'll learn what information is necessary to processprescriptions and physician orders and apply that knowledge to fill mock prescriptions.The curriculum also includes the ethics of pharmacy practice and education aboutprescription medications, patient care and interaction and charges and reimbursement.

Upon completion of this program, you’ll be prepared to pass the National CertificationExam offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
