Workface Planner System RequirementsThe client system is typically a desktop used by the Workface Planner.• Software requirements:

2Prerequisites Installations

Some prerequisites should be installed prior to the ConstructSim products installations for the desktop user.

To Enable Windows Identity FoundationYou need to turn on the Windows Identity Foundation. To do this, from the Start menu, go to the Control Paneland select Program and Features. In the left pane, click Turn Windows features on or off. In the WindowsFeatures dialog, turn on Windows Identity Foundation. Click OK to close the dialog.

To Install Visual C++ Redistributables for Visual Studio 20151. Download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015:

2. Double click on the installer and follow installation instructions.

To Install Microsoft Sync Framework 2.1 Redistributable Package1. Download Microsoft Sync Framework 2.1 Redistributable Package:

2. Double click on the installers and follow installation instructions.

To Install Microsoft SQL Server 2014 SP2/ 2016 SP1/ 2017 ExpressBefore installing SQL Server 2014/ 2016/ 2017 Express edition, verify that you do not have a version alreadyinstalled on your computer. ConstructSim Planner requires the SQL Server® 2017 SP2, 2016 SP1 or 2017version. Go to the Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features to review installed applications.To install Microsoft® SQL Server® 2014 SP2 / 2016 SP1 / 2017 Express, go to the Microsoft website and launchthe installer.

In the left pane, click Planning to confirm that you have the necessary requirements.Then in the left pane, click Installation. In the right pane, select New installation or add features to an existinginstallation. Accept the License terms and in the Feature Selection window, select Database Engine Service.Proceed through the rest of the installation selecting the default options.

3ConstructSim Products Installations

The ConstructSim product suite is comprised of two separate application installations. These applicationinstallations operate together based on whether the target computer is intended for use by a Data ProcessingAdministrator or a Workface Planner. In addition, a Virtual Construction Model (VCM) database is deployed ontoa server class machine to provide a work-sharing environment for the collective team of administrative andother users.The set of application installations are:• ConstructSim Planner — Desktop application for interaction in a Virtual Construction Model.• ConstructSim Executive Client — Workflow execution engine and associated utilities for generating and

updating a Virtual Construction Model.A CD drive or access to the Internet is required for product installation.

To Download ConstructSim Products1. Go to the Bentley CONNECTION Center website (https://connect.bentley.com/).2. Click Software Downloads.

The https://softwaredownloads.bentley.com/en/ site opens.3. From the Product Line drop-down select Construction and from the Brand drop-down, select ConstructSim.4. Click Apply.

5. Click the Get Software link to open the window from where you can download the software.6. Follow prompts to complete the installation.

To Install and Launch ConstructSim Planner1. Double-click the ConstructSim Planner installer and follow the instructions on the Setup Wizard.

ConstructSim Planner installs Connection Client version 10.00.14.18.

To Install and Launch the ConstructSim Executive Client1. To Download ConstructSim Products (on page 7).2. Double-click the installer to open ConstructSim Executive Client installer window and click Next.

3. Accept the terms of the End-User License Agreement and click Next.

4. Select the location where to install the CONNECTION client and click Install. (This window only displays ifCONNECTION Client is not already installed on the machine.)

5. Select the location for the Executive Client and click Next.



6. In the Ready to install ConstructSim Executive Client window, click Install.



7. When the installation finishes, close the installer window.The installation is complete.

8. Launch the Connection Client and login with your account information.9. Launch the ConstructSim Executive Client.

• If CONNECTION Client is running and the user is logged in there, then login to ConstructSim ExecutiveClient happens automatically and you will see your username next to Logged in as.

• If CONNECTION Client is running and the user is not logged in there, then the ConstructSim ExecutiveClient Login dialog appears.



To Run the i-model Mapper1. From the ConstructSim Executive Client Tools menu, click Configure Data Processing.

The Data Processing Configuration Wizard opens.2. In the Wizard, click Next until you reach the CAD window.3. Select the i-model you want to map and click Edit.4. In the Edit CAD Data Source dialog that opens, click Run i-model Mapper.5. In the Run i-model Mapper dialog that opens, select the *.i.dgn and click OK.

6. Click Open local file.7. Check that the model displays with the i-model mapping information.

4ConstructSim Work Package Server Web Site Access

ConstructSim Work Package Server Web Site is intended for use by the Field User. It is a web-based interfacethat follows the complete life cycle of a work package and stores the engineering data and information modelingfor a project.

To Access the ConstructSim Work Package Server Web SiteIf you are not associated to any of the projects in the selected community, you will not be able to proceed.1. Go to the server website by following the link provided to you.2. In the dialog that opens, enter your User name and password.3. From the Communities drop-down menu, select the community in which you want to work.

A community is a link to a specific datasource on a specific server.


4. Click Sign in.The ConstructSim Work Package Server home page opens.

5. Select your project from the Project drop down list.6. Begin working in the ConstructSim Work Package Server.
