Start off the New Year by finally getting to those long put-off tasks that you’ve been meaning to do. If you are think-ing about applying for a new contractor’s license, want to obtain an additional classification, need to renew your license before it expires (remember it takes several weeks for the CSLB to process), have complaints filed against your license that you’ve been meaning to address, or have any other business need such as incorporating with the Secretary of State, call us! We’re here to help you take the hassle out of all these processes and much more! Call us today before another year suddenly is behind you!

Things you need to consider:

Well over 50% of all contractor license applications are rejected by the Contractors’ License Board (CSLB) due to mistakes in completing the forms. To make matters worse, the CSLB has tightened their requirements to qualify. Between the mistakes and the inability to provide proper documentation to satisfy the board’s more stringent re-quirements, the rejection rate now exceeds well over 70%! While your application will still have to pass muster with the CSLB, our assistance with the process makes it signifi-cantly easier and faster.

For potential contractors (or existing contractors who want to add another license classification) that don’t meet the minimum requirements for licensure, we have a potential pool of licensed contractors whom we can pair with these companies. And, we work closely with these companies to ensure that they and their qualifiers meet ALL requirements and responsibilities as mandated by the California Business and Professions (B&P) Code. This has become even more critical due to enhancements to the law that allows the board to prosecute qualifiers who don’t fulfill their obligations.

Remember, CLC is ready to answer ALL of your licensing questions and/

or to assist you with ALL of your licensing, incorporation and

other business needs.

Require a Contractor’s License (Or Have Other Needs)? Call Us!

The Contractors’ State License Board’s main purpose and function as a state agency is to protect the public. If you have a complaint filed against you and you lose, the citation will show on your license for five (5 years) for ALL prospective customers to see!

When contractors move their offices, they frequently fail to notify the CSLB of the address change. Consequently, your renewal notice WILL NOT be forwarded to your new address! Your license expires – you are suspended!

When you find yourself alone in the workplace because you: work early or late hours, work at mobile remote sites, or provide services on the go, you must keep yourself safe by following your own gut instinct, and following your employers established safety procedures.

Perform a walk through with your employer to identify the potential hazards you may encounter while performing your duties. Once the hazards are identified, devise safety solutions to control or eliminate the situation. Some solutions may include:•Personal panic alarms•Sensored path lighting•Security cameras•Walkie Talkies/Cell phones

Create and implement procedures for locking doors, patrolling areas, identifying your location. Make these procedures available to all em-ployees working on off-hours or remotely.Have a check-in system in place to identify your location or destina-tion, intended routes and estimated time of arrival. Communicate this information when you will be alone on the job. Check all forms of communication before—and after every shift to be sure all methods of communication are in working order, such as: •Landlines•Cell phones•Walkie Talkies•Two-way radios•Email

If you are working in a cement building, basement or very remote loca-tion, your wireless connection may be interrupted so be sure to choose best method of communication for your environment.

Emergency safety protocol should also be considered when develop-ing your new procedures. In case back up assistance is needed, a con-tact protocol should also be developed to ensure the necessary help is contacted. Know the phone numbers, business hours, and locations of your nearest police/fire station and hospital or clinic.

Make sure the designated employees are trained and aware of their responsibilities should an emergency arise. Have the necessary emergency equipment on hand to administer immediate assistance if needed:•First aid kits•Automated External Defibrillator (AED)•Survival Kits

If everyone is aware of the protocol and procedure and what to do in an emergency, everyone will have the tools to remain safe no matter what situations arise.
