Division St. Powell Blvd. Harold St. Flavel St. S a n d y R i v e r Co l u m b i a R i v e r W i l l a m et te R i v e r 10th St. exit Construction is underway on a project to install median barrier at various locations on Interstate 205 and one location on Interstate 84 east of Troutdale. e first section of median barrier installation is on I-205 between the 10th Street interchange and I-5. Crews will install guardrail first and then cable barrier. Installation on northern areas of I-205 will begin later this winter and spring 2017. Check the website (link below) for the latest information or to sign up for email updates. ere will be both daytime and nighttime construction. To reduce impacts to motorists, all lanes on I-84 and I-205 will remain open during the day. Intermittent daytime shoulder closures on both freeways will occur. ODOT will install three different types of barrier - guard rail, concrete barrier and cable barrier - dependent on specific site conditions. Cable barrier will make up the majority of the installation. Cable median barrier has proven effective across the nation, and here in Oregon, at reducing the number and severity of crossover crashes. e project is part of an Agency-wide effort to close medians on the interstate highways to increase safety by preventing serious head-on crashes. e areas included in this project are high priority locations for median closure.
