Twenty-one AP Scholars are current seniors and 36 AP scholars are graduates from the Class of 2018. TKA is also honored to announce that three alumni are National AP Scholars. Kelli Ahkee with a 4.75 average on 12 AP exams, Tara Leininger with a 4.5 average on 10 AP exams, and Hailey George with a 4.33 average on 9 AP exams. Congratulations to TKA’s AP Scholars! Conservatory Student to Play in All-National Band Congratulations to junior Rebekah Laflin for being chosen to participate in the 2018 All-National Honor Band! Being part of the All-National Honor Band requires a music student to first demonstrate excellence at the All-District level, followed by the All-State level, and finally at a National competition. Rebekah will be one of 121 instrumentalists who were chosen by audition from around the country to play in the All-National Concert Band. Lecrae Devaughn Moore, known as Lecrae, is a Christian hip hop recording artist, songwriter, record producer, and actor. TKA was privileged to have him speak to our MS/HS students during a special Chapel on Wednesday. Lecrae shared his story and encouraged students to "embrace their fears and let fear drive their faith." To know that their identity and worth is found in Jesus Christ and that God has a purpose and a plan for their life that includes their trials and scars. "For we are His workman- ship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Four charter buses carrying 236 high school students headed to Universal Studios in Orlando last Saturday for Florida’s biggest Christian music festival, Rock the Universe. From stages throughout the park, students enjoyed some of the biggest names in Christian rock. action-packed thrill rides, and a fun time together. Congratulations to the varsity boys cross country team for winning the TKA Invitational on Saturday with Cameron Dunn’s win (17:06) and Jacob Dillistin’s 4th place finish (17:51 PR). The 2-time defending FHSAA district champs are showing great form early in the season. Congratulations to the Lady Lions Mia Rodriguez who dominated the field to win the Invitational with an unofficial time of 19:17! October 11-13 & 18-20 PTF General Meeting More than 80 parents and grandparents attended Parent Teacher Fellowship’s kick-off meeting on Tuesday morning. President Randy Martin welcomed guests and the Elementary and Secondary Administrators provided overviews of each school and shared plans for exciting upcoming events. Lisa Gerardi from the Development Office introduced this year's Board and shared some opportunities for parents and grandparents to volunteer and get involved. Students Bond at Sixth Grade Retreat Sixth graders enjoyed a two-day retreat at Life for Youth Camp in Vero Beach this week. The retreat provided a dedicated time for classmates to bond, be challenged as leaders, and draw closer to God. Students participated in a time of praise and worship each day with teaching by Jared Stewart (Christ Fellowship) and TKA parent Josh Kolkana (Place of Hope). The King’s Academy is one of 48 schools from across the country to be named a participating school with the world famous Metropolitan Opera Company. The Met has prepared classroom activities and curriculum support material to include opera and vocal pedagogy which will be implemented in all Conservatory vocal classes. Conservatory Partners with The Metropolitan Opera Lions’ Football Ranked #10 in Palm Beach County Lions’ football continues its impressive play this season with a 4-0 start including a pre-season classic victory. The quality of football being played is getting notice by the local media as ESPN West Palm recently ranked the team as #10 in all of Palm Beach County. Equally as impressive is Florida Gridirons Prep ranking Lions’ football as #4 in the FHSAA 3A classification.
