MASS INTENTIONS THIS WEEK FROM FATHER KIRBY
Happy Sunday, Team Grace!
Today, we enter in the Sunday’s of Ordinary Time and resume our regular reading of Saint Luke’s Gospel. This is an opportunity for us to once again hear the Gospel and recommit ourselves to the Lord Jesus. Today we are told of the anger of the apostles. They were severely upset that some would not welcome the Lord and they asked him, “"Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?" In response, we are told, “Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they journeyed to another village.” This action by the Lord is the definitive denunciation of any use of violence to coerce or force belief. While some in our tradition have violated this principle, the Gospel convicts them as it also convicts us if we ever try to use force someone to believe in Jesus Christ.
Some things happening around the parish:
Recently in the mail, every registered family in the parish received an update on our capital campaign. A summary of that update can be found in the center spread of this bulletin. As you can see, we’re doing very well as a community! And so, I want to thank so many of you for your generous support! And, I also want to extend an invitation again to any parishioner who has not yet pledged or participated in the campaign to please do so. As we all know, this campaign will help us to build the kingdom of God. Please be a part of this effort!
Thank you to the many parishioners who worked so tirelessly on our parish Vacation Bible School this past week. And thank you also to our wonderful Nashville Dominicans Sisters who were with us for VBS!
This Thursday, July 4, we celebrate the birthday of our country, one of the greatest nations in human history. We ask God’s continue blessing upon the United States. In observance of the holiday, the Parish Office will be closed on Thursday and Friday. Also, we will not have public Mass on these days. Enjoy your 4th!
Bulletin Deadline is 10 days prior to the Sunday bulletin date…..longer around holidays.Announcements should be sent to Brianna Pavlish. [email protected]
