Commvault igneous.io Page 1 Configuring Commvault VirtualServer Protection to backup to Igneous Introduction Commvault Virtual Server Protection (VSP) is a third-party enterprise backup software suite, allowing companies to backup and restore data across a wide variety of platforms. Starting with VSP 11, you can use Commvault to back up data to an Igneous Hybrid Storage Cloud. For additional information on Commvault's capabilities, please refer to Commvault's documentation, some of which is linked to below: • Commvault v11 Cloud Storage overview • Commvault Cloud storage : getting started Pre-requisites Note that this was specifically tested with Commvault VirtualServerProtection v11 build 80, running on Windows Server 2012 x86_64 Other versions of Commvault may work, please refer to Commvault support to determine which software offerings are compatible with S3 storage. Igneous configuration In order for Commvault to be able to backup data to Igneous, there are a few things to do on the Igneous Hybrid Storage Cloud in your environment. If you have access to the Igneous management interface, follow the steps listed in the Quick Start Guide . If you do not have access to the Igneous Management interface, you will need to request the following from whomever administers your Igneous Hybrid Storage Cloud: • endpoint URL • access_key • secret_key • Container (bucket) Note that a best practice is to have a separate Container/Bucket for each Commvault Media server.
