Why? Stress, Pressure, Bullying

Background Situation

Page 3: Complimenter presentation

Many students at all ages are subject to bullying and a large

amount of negative emotions as they experiment with who

they are and try to find their place in the world.

The Problem

Page 4: Complimenter presentation

How can we create a more positive environment for students

to be more motivated to show up and do well in their

schooling environments?

The Question

Page 5: Complimenter presentation

[Students are under constant pressure to perform well and to add onto that they are surrounded by the focus on negative emotions not only

in their grades but in all of the social media and news around them. By spreading compliments through smaller immediate groups like your

groups of friends and family it will spread into social media and affect the entire world.]

Our Findings

Page 6: Complimenter presentation

My team, The Complimenters is developing a mobile app

to help students who are having trouble with depression and

bullying to help them feel better about themselves and be more

motivated to participate

Elevator Pitch

Page 7: Complimenter presentation

[Of the users that we interviewed none were really going to say that they were being bullied or feeling very depressed but they were all

able to tell us that their experience of school is very stressful and that if they were suffering from depression they wouldn’t want to put a lot

of time or effort into solving is as they already have their hands full. The Complimenter offers an easy to use method for helping you get

through those hard times. ]

Our Users

Our app will open with a simple menu presenting a couple central buttons. You will be able to generate a compliment, have access to your favorited compliments or switch up a couple settings. Once a

compliment is generated you have the option to send it to someone through your contacts or social media if not you can go back to the

main screen. It’s a simple interface with only a couple screens.

Our App Compared To Others

Although there were one or two apps that were similar to our own they didn’t seem to have the same purpose as ours did. Every single one of them had an insult app paired with it so it didn’t seem as though they were trying to solve anything or help anyone. The compliments that were being presented to us were almost all based on romance which is not the same audience we are trying to target. Our intention is to reduce the negativity in the community in general. So our compliments would be more relatable towards those who are feeling down. None of the complimenting centered apps we saw were focused on solving a problem.
